Supported Applications
The Omega EMH Series Screw Plug Immersion Heaters are designed for immersion in liquids. These single-phase units operate at 120V or 240V with power ratings ranging from 400 to 1000W, based on operation immersed in water.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The EMH series features a Series 316 SS sheath and single-thread pipe construction. Watt density varies by diameter: ½" Diameter units provide 37 W/in²; ¾" Diameter units provide 38 W/in²; and 1¼" Diameter units provide 24 W/in².
Wattage tolerances are held to 5 to 10% at rated voltage. Length tolerances are ±2% with a ±⅛" minimum. The electrical leads for the smaller diameters utilize fiberglass insulation rated to 250°C (482°F) and epoxy potting rated to 130°C (266°F).
Configuration Options
The series is available in three screw plug sizes: ½, ¾, and 1¼ NPT. Models are configured for specific diameters and voltages as follows:
- Diameter & Connection: Available in 5/8" diameter with ½ NPT; ¾" diameter with ¾ NPT; or 1¼" diameter with 1¼ NPT.
- Voltage Options: Configurable for 120V or 240V, 1-Phase operation.
- Termination Styles: The ½ and ¾" diameters feature 12" fiberglass leads. The 1¼" diameter utilizes 8-32 screw and nut terminals.
Construction details include a welded end, mica insulation, magnesium oxide packing, element wire situated close to the outside surface for maximum heat transfer, a mounting bushing, and a ceramic cap. Flexible, stranded, nickel-alloy insulated leads or rust-resistant post terminals are provided depending on the model size.
Key Product Differences
Variants differ by diameter, NPT screw plug size, wattage output, and termination method:
- EMH-060 Series (½ NPT): 5/8" diameter models rated at 400W. Overall length is 6 inches.
- EMH-061 Series (¾ NPT): ¾" diameter models rated at 500W. Overall length is 6 inches.
- EMH-110 Series (1¼ NPT): 1¼" diameter models rated at 1000W. Overall length is 11 inches.
The model number format follows EMH-<Diameter>-<Voltage>, such as EMH-060-120V or EMH-110-240V.
