Supported Applications
The Omega STS-2X Solder Iron Tip Temperature Sensing Thermocouple Module is designed to measure soldering iron tip temperature when used in conjunction with any Type-K thermocouple/thermometer. The series supports use in production areas, maintenance work, and field service applications.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The STS-2X measures temperatures from 0 to 427°C (32 to 800°F). Accuracy meets or exceeds Special Limit of Error (SLE) and EN 60584-2; Tolerance Class 1. The unit features rugged construction with an aluminum case.
Configuration Options
The series includes specific configurations for sensor replacement and connection:
- Sensor Element: STS-H (soldering iron sensor with element) is available as a primary component. Replacement elements are offered in packages of three under part number STS-RE.
- Electrical Connection: The module utilizes 457 mm (18") long insulated leads terminating in a Type K subminiature male connector (OMEGA part number SMP-K-M).
- Housing and Dimensions: Constructed with an aluminum case, the overall dimensions are 50.8 D x 42.6 mm H (2 x 1.68").
Key Product Differences
The STS-2X is a dedicated solder iron measuring module distinct from other special purpose probes in the broader family, such as dual thermocouple probes with NPT fittings or flow-through sensors. The series relies on the unique sensor design to enable low-cost testing methods for Type-K systems.
