Supported Applications
The Omega FTB600 Series consists of all-plastic, axial paddle wheel turbine flow meters designed for ultra-low flow applications. Based on the Pelton wheel principle, these sensors are suitable for use in medical, pharmaceutical, chemical processing, pulp & paper, semi-conductor, and agricultural industries.
The series is engineered to measure clear, transparent, or translucent fluids that transmit infrared light. The design inherently bleeds off entrained gas to improve accuracy and eliminates the need for flow straighteners or special inlet piping.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The FTB600 Series offers six distinct measurement ranges spanning from 0.1 to 120 LPM, with a turn down ratio up to 30:1. The sensor provides an accuracy of ±1% of reading and repeatability of ±0.1% of reading.
Performance is maintained within the following operating parameters:
- Ambient Temperature: -40 to 85°C (-40 to 185°F)
- Working Pressure: 150 psig at 79°C (175°F)
- Viscosity Range: 1 to 15 cSt
- Maximum Pressure Drop @ Maximum Flow: 30 psi on all units; 6.5 psi on FTB601
The sensor utilizes an infrared electro-optical transmitter and receiver with a wavelength of approximately 85 nm for non-contact rotor detection. The fluid must transmit this infrared light; the series is not suitable for use with red liquids.
Configuration Options
The FTB600 Series supports multiple configurations to accommodate specific installation needs, including hose barb or threaded connections and various flow ranges defined by model number. The wetted parts are constructed from PVDF (polyvinylidene fluoride) with FKM O-rings.
Model Ranges and Dimensions
The series includes six primary models covering the following flow envelopes:
- FTB601B: 0.1 to 2 LPM (K Factor: 36,000 pulses/Liter)
- FTB602B: 0.3 to 9 LPM (K Factor: 8,000 pulses/Liter)
- FTB603B: 0.5 to 15 LPM (K Factor: 3,200 pulses/Liter)
- FTB604B: 1 to 30 LPM (K Factor: 1,200 pulses/Liter)
- FTB605B: 2.5 to 75 LPM (K Factor: 450 pulses/Liter)
- FTB606B: 4 to 120 LPM (K Factor: 225 pulses/Liter)
Connections and Options
Models are available with standard hose barb connections. For NPT threaded connections, add the suffix "-T" to the model number at no additional charge.
- NPT Sizes: ¼ (FTB601), ½ (FTB602/3), ¾ (FTB604), and 1¼ (FTB605/6)
- Included Accessories: A strainer is included in models FTB602B through FTB606B.
Electrical Specifications
The sensor outputs a square wave pulse signal. It requires an 8 to 24 Vdc power supply with current consumption between 6 and 33 mA. A 0.9 m (3') cable is included.
Key Product Differences
Variants within the FTB600 Series are distinguished by their flow range, physical dimensions, K factor, and connection type. The "-T" suffix denotes units configured with NPT threaded connections rather than hose barbs; these threaded versions feature different overall lengths compared to the standard models.
Models FTB602B through FTB606B include an integrated strainer, whereas the FTB601B does not. The series is offered in six base model numbers (FTB601B–FTB606B), each corresponding to a specific flow range and K factor value as listed above.
