Supported Applications

The Omega SP-010 Series is a modular smart probe designed to interface with load cells (strain gauge bridges) within the Omega Link Ecosystem. It provides excitation for strain gauges ranging from 250 ohm to 15,000 ohm and integrates into IIoT networks via compatible Smart Interfaces and Gateways.

Documented applications include:

• Weight Measurement & Control: Supports hardware and software TARE functions for weight adjustment and integrated alarm/control outputs.
• Data Logging & Monitoring: Features 10,000+ sample data/event logging capabilities with secure authentication and password protection.
• Edge Computing: Functions as an edge controller capable of autonomous decision-making for alarms or control outputs based on sensor input.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The SP-010 Series operates within a specified ambient temperature range and delivers defined accuracy metrics under standard conditions. The device utilizes optimized pulsed bridge excitation to minimize self-heating in the connected strain gauge.

• Ambient Temperature: -40 to 85°C (-40 to 185°F).
• Enclosure Rating: IP67 when mated.
• Linearity Error: ±0.03% FSO @ 25°C.
• Thermal Error: ±0.005% FSO/°C.
• Reading Rate: 1 sample per second max.

The probe supports strain gauge bridge sensitivities from 1 to 15 mV/V and requires a power supply of 2.8 VDC - 3.3 VDC.

Digital I/O Specifications

• Input High Threshold: 2.2 V_MAX.
• Input Low Threshold: 0.3 V_MIN.
• Maximum Input Voltage (V_inMAX): 30 VDC.
• Output Capability: 2x Open Drain, 100 mA max, with a maximum voltage of 30 VDC.

Configuration Options

The series features a modular M12 construction that separates the load cell connection from the smart interface communication. This design allows for flexible integration into various Omega Link configurations.

• Sensor Connection: Integrates 4-wire load cells via an M12 4-pin Male Connector. Pinout includes Excitation (+/-) and Sense (+/-).
• Interface Communication: Connects to Omega Link Smart Interfaces via an M12 8-pin Male Connector.
• Digital I/O Access: The M12-8 pin connector provides access to Discrete I/O signals (DIO 0, DIO 1), Interrupt Signal (INTR), and I2C communication lines (SCL, SDA).

Compatible Omega Link Ecosystem Components

The SP-010 is designed for use with specific interfaces and gateways to enable wired or wireless data transmission:

• Smart Interfaces: Compatible with IF-001 (Wired USB), IF-002 (Wired RS485/Modbus), and the IF-006 Series for Sub GHz Wireless connectivity (-915 MHz NA / -868 MHz EU).
• Gateways: Supports connection to GW-001 series (Standard Wired/Wireless) and GW-002 series (LTE Pro) gateways.

Cables & Accessories

The following accessories are available for installation and I/O access:

• M12.8-T-SPLIT: Smart Probe M12-8 pin shielded T-Splitter enabling access to I/O pins.
• M12.8-S-M-FM: M12-8 pin Straight Plug Field install connector with screw terminals.
• Dual M12 Cables (DM12CAB): Available in 1m, 3m, and 5m lengths with straight or right-angle terminators for dual M12-8 connections.

The SP-010 Series is currently offered as a single model variant:

• SP-010-1: Load Cell Smart Probe with discrete I/O.

The device supports software configurability through SYNC configuration software and includes features such as 2-point linearization. It is compatible with OEG, Omega Link Cloud, and Modbus Networks. Agency approvals include CE and UKCA.
