Supported Applications
The Optomax Digital Series by SST Sensing comprises miniature liquid level switches designed to detect almost any liquid type, including oil or water-based fluids. These digital sensors are engineered for applications requiring low power consumption and compact design.
- Liquid Level detection in vessels with internal mounting (Types 3 and 5).
- External vessel monitoring using Types 1, 2, 6, and 7 configurations.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The series operates across two temperature envelopes depending on the housing material. Standard Polysulfone housings support an ambient operating range of -25°C to +80°C, while extended-range Trogamid® housings operate from -40°C to +125°C. Storage temperatures are rated at -30°C to +85°C for standard configurations and -40°C to +125°C for extended ranges.
Pressure ratings vary by housing type as defined in the specification tables:
- Types 1, 2, 3, 6, and 7: Maximum pressure of 7 bar / 101 psi.
- Type 5: Maximum pressure of 20 bar / 209 psi max.
Tightening torque for all housing types is specified at a maximum of 1.5 Nm / 13.26 in-lbs. Media compatibility requires verification against Polysulfone or Trogamid®; specifically, when using Trogamid® above +85°C with oil-based liquids, deformation of the sensing tip may occur and must be tested for compatibility.

Process Connections & Dimensions
The series offers multiple thread options and physical profiles detailed in the outline drawings:
- Type 1, 2, 3: M12 x 1 - 8g threads with a Hex size of 19 A/F.
- Type 5: M10 x 1 thread; diameter 12.0 mm (sensing tip details include diameters of 6.0 and 1.2).
- Type 6: 1/2"-20 UNF threads with a Hex size of 19 A/F.
- Type 7: 1/4" NPT threads with a Hex size of 19 A/F.
Electrical Interface & Outputs
Sensors utilize 250mm PVDF wires (24AWG, tinned) with the following color code:
- Red: Vs
- Green: Output
- Blue: 0V
Output signal options include PUSH PULL, HIGH IN AIR, LOW IN AIR, and PWM. Power supply requirements are 4.5 VDC to 15.4 VDC for standard outputs; the PWM output requires a narrower range of 4.5 VDC to 5.5 VDC.
Accessories
- Seal Washers: Nitrile, EPDM, or VAMAC (specific order codes provided).
- Nuts: Zinc-Plated Brass, Stainless Steel, or Plastic (PLA for Type 5).
- 'O' Rings and Sealing Tape/Compound as required by the specific thread type.
Key Product Differences
The Optomax Digital Series is distinguished primarily by mounting orientation and housing material. Sensors are categorized into two installation groups:
- Sensor mounted from inside vessel: Includes Type 3 (Polysulfone) and Type 5 (Trogamid®). Model numbers follow the pattern LLXXX0D3X.
- Sensor mounted from outside vessel: Includes Types 1, 2, 6, and 7. These models utilize a suffix 'SH' in their designation (e.g., LLXXX0D3XSH).
Housing material selection dictates the temperature capability: Polysulfone is designated for standard ranges up to +80°C, while Trogamid® enables operation up to +125°C. Output logic varies by configuration, with options including 'Blank' (Output High in air), 'L' (Output Low in air), and 'P' (PWM output).
