Supported Applications
The Omega FPR200 Series liquid flow transmitters integrate rugged tangential turbine technology with a precision digital-to-analog conversion circuit hermetically encapsulated within the sensor body. These devices are designed for measuring flow rates in cooling circuits, HVAC systems, and batching operations.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The series delivers 2% FS accuracy with 0.5% FS repeatability across a measurement range of 1.9 to 189.3 LPM (0.5 to 50 GPM). Response time is specified as 2 s to 90% for a step change in flow rate. Process temperature limits vary by body material: Polypropylene bodies operate from -7 to 65°C (20 to 150°F), while Stainless Steel (316 SS) bodies support -7 to 107°C (20 to 225°F). Maximum pressure ratings range from 150 PSIG for polypropylene models up to 500 PSIG for stainless steel configurations. The series supports media with a maximum viscosity of 5 cps when using wetted parts in polypropylene bodies.
Wetted Materials
- Turbine: Acetal copolymer
- Bearing: PEEK™
- Seals: Buna, EPR, or FKM (FKM available as an option)
- Housing/Body: 316 SS or Polypropylene with clear polycarbonate cover on visual indicator models
Configuration Options
The series offers configurable outputs, process connections, and housing styles to accommodate specific installation needs. Models are available in three connection sizes: 1/2 NPT, 3/4 NPT, and 1 NPT.
Output Signals & Electrical Specifications
- Analog Output: 4 to 20 mA (standard) or 0 to 5 Vdc (add suffix '-5V')
- Pulse Output: Dry-contact pulse output available on select models
- Relay Output: Form C (SPDT), rated 5A @ 120/240 Vac, designated by FSW model numbers
- Power Supply: 12 to 35 Vdc with reverse polarity protection
- Cable: Includes a standard 3 m (10') cable; load resistance is limited to 1150 Ω max for analog outputs.
Housing & Visual Indication Options
- Visual Indicator: Models with clear polycarbonate covers provide visual indication of flow pulse (suffix '-PC'). Blind models lack this feature.
- Seal Materials: Standard Buna seals are available; EPR and FKM seal options can be added via suffix ('-EPR' or '-FKM') to the model number.
Key Product Differences
The series distinguishes between flow transmitters (FPR prefix) and flow switches with relay outputs (FSW prefix). Within these families, models are differentiated by body material (316 SS vs. Polypropylene), output type (4-20 mA, pulse dry contact, or relay), and the presence of a visual indicator.
Pressure ratings correlate directly to housing style: 500 PSIG is available for blind stainless steel models; 200 PSIG applies to stainless steel models with clear covers (-PC); and polypropylene bodies are rated to 150 PSIG. Flow ranges increase with connection size, spanning from 0.5 to 5.0 GPM (1/2 NPT) up to 5.0 to 50.0 GPM (3/4 or 1 NPT).
