Supported Applications

The Omega SCE-XELLP Series consists of indoor-outdoor electrical enclosures designed to house electrical and electronic controls, instruments, and equipment. These units are engineered for areas that may be regularly hosed down or located in very wet conditions. The series provides protection from dust, dirt, oil, and water, making them suitable for waterproof and weatherproof applications where extra interior space is required.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The SCE-XELLP enclosures meet specific environmental ratings depending on the industry standard selected. NEMA Type ratings include 3R, 4, 4X, 12, and 13; UL Listed Types are 3R, 4, 4X, and 12; CSA Types cover 3R, 4, 4X, and 12. IEC compliance is rated at IP55 or IP66 depending on the industry standard (IS3, IS4, or IS5). For Type 3R Special Instructions apply to maintain the environmental rating for IS3 & IS4 parts; drip shields are required on IS3 models and recommended on IS4 models. Drain holes are required on both configurations.

Configuration Options

The series is available in multiple dimensions, materials, and industry standards to accommodate specific installation needs.

• Housing Materials: 0.125" thick carbon steel (with a 0.104" thick door) featuring ANSI-61 gray powder coating; or 0.104" thick 304 stainless steel (#4 brushed finish); or 316L stainless steel.
• Dimensions: Heights of 60 and 72 inches; widths of 49, 61, and 73 inches; depths of 12, 18, and 24 inches (all in inches).
• Industry Standards: Configurable as IS3 or IS4.
• Disconnect Cutouts: Standard disconnect cutout D1 is provided. A universal disconnect cutout D7 is available by adding 'U' to the end of any model number.

A disconnect switch, circuit breaker, and operating mechanism are not furnished with this enclosure. Sub-panels (sold separately) include models SCE-60P48, SCE-60P60, SCE-72P60, and SCE-72P72.

Options & Accessories

Drip shields are available in gray steel or stainless steel to support environmental ratings:

• Gray Steel Drip Shields: SCE-DS48N4 (48" long), SCE-DS60N4 (60" long), SCE-DS72N4 (72" long).
• Stainless Steel Drip Shields: SCE-DS48SS, SCE-DS60SS, SCE-DS72SS.

Model Number Construction

The model number follows the format: SCE-<HEIGHT><WIDTH><DEPTH><INDUSTRY STANDARD><DISCONNECT CUTOUT>. For 304 stainless steel, insert 'SS'; for 316L stainless steel, insert 'SS6'.

Key Product Differences

Variants within the SCE-XELLP series differ by overall dimensions (Height A x Width B x Depth C), material composition (Carbon Steel vs. Stainless Steel grades), and industry standard designation (IS3 or IS4). The 'XEL' prefix in model numbers denotes extra deep configurations, while specific suffixes indicate stainless steel construction ('SS' for 304, 'SS6' for 316L) or the universal disconnect cutout option ('U'). Sub-panel compatibility varies by enclosure height and width; for example, SCE-60P48 fits models with a 49" width, while SCE-72P72 is required for 73" wide units.
