Supported Applications

The Omega PRS series Integral Cable RTD Probes are designed for use in Sanitary Clean-In-Place (CIP) systems and sanitary processes. These sensors feature Class A accuracy Platinum Resistance Temperature Detector (RTD) elements meeting the resistance vs. temperature characteristics of IEC 60751.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series operates within a process temperature range of -50 to 200°C (-58 to 392°F). The sensors utilize 4-wire Pt100 elements with a nominal resistance of 100 Ohms at 0°C. Accuracy is specified as Class A per IEC-60751, defined by the tolerance formula ± (0.15 + 0.002t) °C where t is temperature in degrees Celsius regardless of sign. The wetted surfaces consist of 316L Stainless Steel with a surface finish of 32 microinches or better.

Configuration Options

The PRS series offers configurable dimensions and connection styles to accommodate specific sanitary piping requirements. Key configuration options include:

  • Duty Configurations: Available in Standard Duty (PRS-S-CB-120 Series) with a ¼" sheath diameter, or Heavy-Duty (PRS-H-CB-120 Series) with a ⅜" sheath diameter.
  • Process Connections: Supplied standard with 1½" 16 AMP Tri-Grip™ fittings compatible with Tri-Clamp® style piping. Sensor flange sizes ranging from ¾ to 4" are available upon consultation.
  • Probe Lengths: Standard insertion lengths include 3", 4", 5", and 6" options as listed in the ordering tables.
  • Cable Specifications: Features an integral cable with a nylon cable clamp. The standard configuration includes 120" (10') of 4-conductor #26 AWG stranded nickel-plated copper, PFA insulated and jacketed with strain relief. Longer cable lengths are available by modifying the model number suffix.
  • Electrical Output: Configured as a 4-wire RTD output signal.

Key Product Differences

The series distinguishes between Standard Duty and Heavy-Duty configurations primarily by sheath diameter. The PRS-S-CB-120 Series utilizes a ¼" sheath, while the PRS-H-CB-120 Series employs a thicker ⅜" sheath for heavy-duty applications. Both variants share identical temperature ranges, accuracy classes (Class A), and wetted material specifications (316L SS). Model numbers follow the structure PRS-ELEMENT-TYPE-PROBE_LENGTH-FITTING_TYPE-CABLE_LENGTH, where specific codes denote element type, probe length in inches, fitting style, and cable length.
