Supported Applications

The Omega XBQT Series consists of Insulation Displacement Connection (IDC) Ground Terminal Blocks designed for DIN rail mounting. These blocks provide quick connection capability and feature a flexible plug-in bridge system, large surface area for marking, and a standardized testing system. The series meets IEC 60-947-7-2 requirements.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The XBQT Series supports electrical connections via Insulation Displacement Connection (IDC) or Screw Connection methods. Technical data in accordance with IEC specifies a Rated Surge Voltage of 8 kV for Contamination Class 3, and the blocks are classified under Surge Voltage Category III/Insulating Material Group I.

Wire handling capabilities vary by model series:

• XBQT15D22PE / XBQU15PE Series (5.2 mm width): Supports fine stranded/superfine strand wire from 24 to 16 AWG (0.25 to 0.34 mm²). Repeated connections are rated for a minimum of 100x on cross-sections from 0.25 to 1.5 mm².
• XBQT25PE / XBQU25PE Series (6.2 mm width): Supports fine stranded/superfine strand wire from 20 to 14 AWG. Repeated connections are rated for a minimum of 100x on cross-sections from 0.5 to 2.5 mm².
• Screw Connection (XBQU models): Thread size is M3 with a torque range of 5.3 to 7.1 in-lb (0.6 to 0.8 Nm). Stripping length for connections is 9 mm (0.35).

The series holds CE, UL, and RoHS approvals.

Configuration Options

The XBQT Series offers four primary ground terminal block configurations with varying widths and connection types:

• XBQT15D22PE: Gray, 5.2 mm (0.20") IDC ground TB for multi-conductor applications; supports 4-wire connections in the range of 24-16 AWG.
• XBQT25PE: Gray, 6.2 mm (0.24") IDC ground TB supporting 20-14 AWG wire sizes.
• XBQU15PE: Gray, 5.2 mm (0.20") hybrid terminal block offering both IEC Screw Connection and IEC IDC Connection options; supports 26-12 AWG for screw connections and 24-12 AWG for IDC.
• XBQU25PE: Gray, 6.2 mm (0.24") hybrid terminal block offering both Screw Connection and IEC IDC options; supports 26-10 AWG for screw connections and 20-14 AWG for IDC.

The series accommodates various wire types including core insulation of PVC/PE, single/multiple/fine strand conductors, halogen-free cables, stranded wires with or without ferrules (with plastic sleeve), multi-conductor connections, and twin ferrule configurations. Key Product Differences

Variants within the XBQT Series differ primarily by terminal width, maximum wire size capacity, and connection method availability:

• IDC vs. Hybrid: Models designated with "QB" (e.g., XBQT) are dedicated IDC ground blocks. Models designated with "QU" (e.g., XBQU) are hybrid units that support both screw connections and IDC.
• Wire Size Envelope: The 5.2 mm width series handles smaller gauges up to a maximum of 16 AWG for pure IDC models, while the 6.2 mm width series supports larger conductors up to 14 AWG (IDC) or 10 AWG (Screw).
• Multi-Conductor Specifics: The XBQT15D22PE is specifically described as a "4 wire multi-conductor IDC ground TB," distinguishing it from the standard single-wire per position configuration of other models.

The series supports an extensive range of accessories including gray end covers (XBAC), red plug-in bridges in 2, 3, 5, 10, and 50 positions (XBAFBS), test adaptors (XBATSPA14), white blank marker strips for external labeling (XBMZB/XBMZBF), DIN rails in slotted or solid configurations for 35 x 7.5 mm and 35 x 15 mm profiles, and various end stops.
