Supported Applications
The Omega ACC786A series consists of top-mount industrial-grade accelerometers designed for vibration measurements in harsh environments. The OMEGAROMETER™ Series features a hermetically sealed case suitable for general-purpose monitoring where robust construction is required.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The ACC786A operates within an ambient and process temperature range of -50 to 120°C (-58 to 248°F). The sensing element utilizes a PZT ceramic/shear design with a sensitivity of 100 mV/g at ±5% (25°C / 77°F). Frequency response specifications are defined as follows: ±5% from 3 to 5000 Hz, ±10% from 1 to 9000 Hz, and ±3 dB from 0.5 to 14,000 Hz.
Dynamic performance includes an acceleration range of 80 g peak with a resonance frequency of 30 kHz. The device withstands vibration limits up to 500 g peak and shock limits up to 5000 g peak. Electrical noise is specified as broadband (2.5 Hz to 25 kHz) at 700 μg, with spectral values of 10 μg/Hz at 10 Hz, 5 μg/Hz at 100 Hz, and 5 μg/Hz at 1000 Hz.
Electrical Specifications
- Power Requirement: Voltage source of 18 to 30 Vdc; current regulating diode requires 2 to 10 mA.
- Bias Output Voltage: 12 Vdc.
- Output Impedance, Maximum: 100 Ω.
- Grounding: Isolated case, internally shielded.
Environmental Limits
- Temperature Response: -50°C (-58°F) = -5%; 120°C (248°F) = 5%.
- Electromagnetic Sensitivity, Max: 70 μg/gauss.
- Base Strain Sensitivity, Max: 0.0002 g/microstrain.
Configuration Options
The ACC786A is a general-purpose model featuring a top cable exit configuration. The physical construction includes a 316L SS case with an overall length of 53.34 mm (2.1 in) and a diameter of 19.05 mm (0.75 in). Mounting is achieved via a ¼-28 UNF tapped hole.
The series supports various accessories to configure the measurement system:
- Cabling Options: ACC-CB7-10 provides a 3 m (10') MIL/BNC twisted-pair shielded cable; ACC-CB7-10WP offers a 3 m (10') waterproof twisted-pair shielded cable.
- Magnetic Mounting Bases: ACC-B3 is designed for flat surfaces with a holding force of 30 lbf; ACC-B5 is intended for curved surfaces, also rated at 30 lbf.
- Power Supplies: The series supports the ACC-PS2 rechargeable power supply with built-in amplifier and the ACC-PS3* 115 Vac power supply. For a 230 Vac power supply, add suffix “-230” to model number.
The electrical connection utilizes a 2-pin connector in MIL-C-5015 style with Pin A designated for Power/signal and Pin B for Common. The mating connector is Amphenol 97-3106A-10SL-4S type.
Key Product Differences
The ACC786A model represents the general-purpose accelerometer with a top exit connector within this series. Ordering examples typically combine the base unit (ACC786A) with selected accessories, such as cables and mounting bases, to form a complete system.
