Supported Applications
The Omega TAT6 Series consists of Deep Tank/Sump Immersion Heaters designed for permanent installation in outdoor and indoor applications. These units are engineered to heat heavy oils and clean water within industrial tanks or sumps.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The series operates with a process temperature range of 16 to 121°C (60 to 250°F). Standard configurations include an adjustable double-pole thermostat covering this same range, featuring a 9.5 mm (⅜") diameter bulb and capillary installed in a watertight thermowell with an adjustable compression fitting.
Heaters utilize 12 mm (0.475") Incoloy® elements as the standard sheath material, paired with stainless steel wetted parts. The electrical enclosure is rated NEMA 4 and includes a ¾" Conduit Fitting for connection via a ¾ NPT Conduit Hub.
Configuration Options
The TAT6 Series offers extensive configurability across voltage, power output, element count, and physical dimensions to accommodate specific tank geometries. The series supports the following capabilities:
- Voltage & Phase: Available in 120V, 208V, 277V, and 575V versions (contact Omega for availability). Units are factory wired for three-phase but can be converted to single phase.
- Power Output: Configurable from 5 KW up to 30 KW based on the number of elements installed.
- Element Count: Supports assemblies with up to 24 elements per heater unit.
- Riser Dimensions: Features an adjustable riser pipe ranging from 190 mm (7.5") to 3600 mm (approx. 3.6 m) for depth adjustment, with a maximum overall length A of 3.7 m (144").
- Housing & Approvals: Standard NEMA 4 electrical enclosure; optional NEMA 1 or NEMA 4/7 (Explosion Resistant) terminal housings are available.
- Sensor Options: Can be configured with an RTD or Process Thermocouple in a thermowell to replace the standard thermostat, or include a Hi-Limit Thermocouple on the element sheath.
Additional options include 316 SS, steel, or copper element designs; passivation, electropolished, or bright annealed surface treatments for stainless steel or Incoloy® designs; custom or ASI pressure-rated flanges on the riser; internally mounted definite purpose magnetic contactors (single circuit units only); alternate single- or double-pole thermostats; special riser or sludge leg heights; right-angle riser design for offset terminal housing; and ½ DIN temperature controllers used with thermocouple/RTD probes.
Key Product Differences
The series is distinguished by specific model numbers that define the voltage, phase, power rating (KW), number of elements, and dimensional configuration. For example:
- TAT60001 through TAT60004: 5 KW units with 3 elements.
- TAT60005 through TAT60008: 7.5 KW units with 6 elements.
- TAT60009 through TAT60012: 10 KW units with 9 elements.
- TAT60013 through TAT60018: Ranging from 15 to 20 KW, utilizing 12 or 18 elements respectively (three-phase only for higher power).
- TAT60019 and TAT60020: 30 KW units with 24 elements.
Dimensional parameters A, B, and E vary by model to correspond with the element count and power rating. Dimension B remains constant at 387 mm (15.25") across all listed configurations in the selection table.
