Supported Applications

The MM Series are micromachined-silicon modular pressure sensors from Omega, designed for industrial, test-and-measurement and aerospace applications. They use micro-machined piezoresistive technology with strain gages embedded in a stable silicon wafer, which gives high-accuracy, high-temperature performance across a very wide span of pressure ranges, electrical outputs and process terminations.

Because the series is highly configurable, a single platform covers gage, absolute, differential, vacuum, compound and barometric pressure measurement. Wetted parts and housing are 316L stainless steel, making the sensors compatible with a broad range of media, and sanitary process connections plus 3-A Sanitary compliance extend their use into hygienic processes. Free OMEGASOFT software is included for USB models.

Operating Conditions & Performance

Measurement spans run from 25 mbar to 350 bar, covering low-pressure ranges quoted in inches of water through high-pressure ranges to 5000 psi. Accuracy is specified on a best-straight-line (BSL) basis and is available from ±0.05% FS through ±0.08% FS, ±0.20% FS and ±0.40% FS depending on configuration, with a response time of < 1 ms.

Output options include a mV output (10 mV/V), 4 to 20 mA, 0 to 5 Vdc and 0 to 10 Vdc, along with a USB output. Excitation and power range from 5 to 10 Vdc for ratiometric outputs up to 10 to 30 Vdc @ 10 mA, and the 9 to 30 Vdc supply derates to 9 to 20 Vdc above 229°F. The sensors operate over a process temperature range of -45 to 121°C and an ambient range of -15 to 115°C, and carry IP67 or IP65 protection.

Each sensor measures ø22.25 mm (0.88 in) in diameter by 60.97 mm (2.40 in) in length and weighs 115 to 200 g depending on configuration. The line is CE and RoHS compliant and NIST traceable, and withstands 50 g, 11 ms half-sine shock.

Configuration Options

Every MM sensor is built to order, so variants differ by the options selected in the part-number configuration rather than by fixed model tiers. The main axes of variation are:

  • Pressure type and range — gage, absolute, differential, vacuum, compound or barometric, spanning 25 mbar to 350 bar.
  • Accuracy — selectable BSL accuracy from ±0.05% FS to ±0.40% FS.
  • Output — mV, 4 to 20 mA, 0 to 5 Vdc, 0 to 10 Vdc or USB.
  • Electrical termination — cable, Mini DIN, twist-lock, M12 connector or USB.
  • Process connection — 1/2" NPT, 1" NPT, 1 1/2" or 2" Tri-Grip™, or 1 1/2" and 2" sanitary fittings.

Optional adjustable zero and span potentiometers and a secondary fluid containment system further tailor each unit. Bidirectional differential models are calibrated in the positive direction only.

Key Product Differences

Sensors are ordered as a configuration string that encodes the pressure range, output, termination, connection and options. Representative configured part numbers in the series include:

  • MMA1.0KV10P2C1T3A3P
  • MMA5.0KC1P4J5T4A3
  • MMDWU001C1P4C2T2A1P
  • MMDWU001V10P3D0T1A1
  • MMG10WV10P4D0T2A2P
  • MMV015C1M2C1T3A3

Each string selects a specific combination of the pressure type, range, accuracy, output and termination described above, so the "model" is effectively defined by the customer's configuration rather than by a small fixed catalog.
