Supported Applications
The Omega SYS/FTBG-100 Series Gas Turbine and Transmitter Systems are designed for the volumetric flow measurement of gas through a pipeline. The series is suitable for non-corrosive gases including natural gas, air, and nitrogen. Special versions featuring NACE-MR175 trim and self-lubricated ceramic ball bearings are available for corrosive gases such as "off-gas." Documented applications include fiscal measurement, plant cost allocation, and energy consumption or conservation monitoring.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The system operates within an ambient temperature range of -40 to 85°C (-40 to 185°F) with a process temperature capability from -157 to 150 C (-250 to 300 F). The transmitter accuracy is specified as ±0.02% of full scale, while the turbine linearity is typically ±1% of reading and repeatability is ±0.25% over the repeatable range. Turn down range performance is dependent on gas density at user operating conditions.
Maximum pressure ratings vary by meter size: 6000 psi for sizes up to ⅜", decreasing through 4400 psi, 3850 psi, 3500 psi, and 3000 psi down to 1500 psi for the largest models. The system supports an over-range of 150% of maximum flow intermittently.
Configuration Options
The series offers a comprehensive selection of meter sizes from ¼" to 3", with NPT process connections as standard and optional MS flared or flanged styles. Wetted materials consist of 316/316L dual rated stainless steel with a 17-4 pH rotor.
Transmitter configurations include:
- Analog Outputs: 4 to 20 mA or 1 to 5 V (dip switch selectable), plus a pulse output of 0 to 5V.
- Power Supply: Standard 13-30 Vdc with reverse polarity protection; optional 100-240 Vac available by adding "-AC" to the model number.
- Communications & Diagnostics: RS232 port for configuration and diagnostics via a USB-to-RS232 converter (OM-CONV-USB).
- Alarms: Optional Hi/Lo alarm output available as Relay (2A, 30 Vdc), 0 to 5V, or Open Collector (0.5A, 30 Vdc) by adding "-AL".
The enclosure is an extruded aluminum explosion-proof ATEX housing rated for hazardous locations including FM Class I Div 1 Gr ABCD/Class II/III Div 1 Gr EFG; CSA Class I Div 1 Gr ABCD/Class III Type 4X; and ATEX Ex d IIC, Zone 1.
Key Product Differences
The series is differentiated by meter size (SYS/FTBG-101 through SYS/FTBG-116) which dictates the flow range in ACFM for specific gases and pressures. For example, model SYS/FTBG-107 measures 1.2 to 9.2 ACFM of natural gas at 2 to 3 psi or 0.54 to 9.2 ACFM of air at 35 to 40 psi.
Blade angles are offered in two configurations: 30° and 15°, affecting the pressure drop across the meter (e.g., 0.1 PSID vs 0.02 PSID for natural gas). Replacement signal conditioners are available as FLSC-C3 or FLSC-C3-AL, requiring a specific cable assembly (FLSC-C-CABLE) for field programming.
