Flexible Pump Controller for Level Control – 1/4 DIN, Use with Transmitters

Selectable pump alternation when used with two pumps to minimize pump wear. With alternation on a seal failure or over temperature condition will force the non-failed pump to lead status and stop alternation.
Alarms can be programmed for output indication of pump seal failure or over temperature.
Selectable time delay, for pump two, on power up to prevent both pumps from starting at the same time. If power is lost, upon regaining power a time delay of up to 60 seconds can be selected to prevent too large of a current draw.

Supported Applications

The Dwyer Series MPC is a panel-mount pump controller designed for level control in industrial processes. It operates with scalable process inputs, including level and temperature signals from external transmitters. Documented applications include water and wastewater systems, sump and sludge pits, clarifiers, digesters, chemical storage tanks, oil tanks, and reservoirs.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The controller accepts selectable inputs of 4-20 mA DC or 2.0 to 10.0 V DC (with options for 0-based ranges). Accuracy is specified as ±0.25% of span, ±1 least significant digit with a display resolution of 1 count. The unit features dual 4-digit LED displays and nonvolatile memory requiring no batteries.

Operating ambient temperature ranges from 14 to 131°F (-10 to 55°C). Humidity ratings are 0 to 90% at 104°F (40°C) non-condensing, or 10 to 50% at 131°F (55°C) non-condensing. Storage temperature is -40 to 176°F (-40 to 80°C). The front panel meets UL Type 4X (IP66) ratings.

Power requirements are 100-240 VAC nominal, +10%-15%, 50 to 400 Hz single phase; or 132-240 VDC nominal, +10%-15%. Power consumption is a maximum of 7.5 VA. The unit provides an isolated loop power supply of 24 VDC @ 50 mA for transmitters.

Configuration Options

The Series MPC offers configurable outputs and communication options to suit specific control architectures:

Relay Outputs: Two SPDT Control Relays rated at 10A @ 240 VAC res., 1/4 hp @ 120 VAC, or 1/3 hp @ 240 VAC. One SPST Alarm Relay is included, rated at 3A @ 240 VAC res., 1/10 hp @ 120 VAC.
Control Logic: Supports On/off control with reverse (pump out) or direct (pump in) acting configurations. Features include selectable pump alternation, time delay for the second pump on power-up, and a test system function to simulate process input.
Analog Retransmission: Option RV provides 2-10 VDC analog retransmission of the input signal (datasheet also notes 4-20 mA current process input retransmission capability).
Serial Communications: Optional RS-232 or RS-485 with Modbus® RTU protocol allows remote computers to read and write control parameters. Connectors are DB-9 for RS-232 and DB-25 for RS-485.
Housing & Mounting: Designed as a 1/4 DIN panel-mount device with a cut-out of 3.620 x 3.620 in (92 x 92 mm). A weatherproof enclosure accessory, NEMA 4X (IP66), is available.
