Supported Applications
The Omega PHE-5460 Series comprises Flat Surface In Line pH/ORP Electrodes designed for installation in ¾, 1, or 2" pipes or pipe tees. These electrodes feature a self-cleaning flat surface optimized for turbulent flow conditions to improve response time and accuracy. The series is documented for use with oily waste fluids, slurries, flocculant, and emulsions.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The PHE-5460 Series operates within a process temperature range of 0 to 87°C (32 to 190°F). The measurement range covers 0 to 14 pH. Wetted materials include CPVC and Acryl Gel, with the latter noted for high-temperature applications. The series supports pressure ratings up to 6.89 bar (100 psig).
Configuration Options
The series offers configurable options across electrode type, pipe size, mounting assembly, and sensor features.
- Pipe Size: Available for ¾", 1", or 2" NPT pipe or pipe tee connections.
- Electrode Type: Models include pH electrodes (PHE-5460 series) and ORP electrodes (ORE-5460 series).
- Housing Material: CPVC construction is standard for the electrode body.
- Special Options: Additional cost options include "HF" for fluoride resistance, "LC" for low conductivity applications, and "GL" for ground loop interrupt circuits with HF resistant glass.
- Mounting Assemblies: Required CPVC mounting assemblies (PHEH-54 series) are ordered separately. These come standard with a 3 m (10') cable assembly featuring a BNC connector; lengths up to 15 m (50') are available upon consultation.
- Automatic Temperature Compensation (ATC): Mounting assemblies can be specified with built-in ATC sensors. Available sensor types include PT100 (100 Ω Pt RTD), PT1K (1000 Ω Pt RTD), TH700 (Series 700 Thermistor), and R3K (3000 Ω Balco).
Key Product Differences
The series distinguishes between pH measurement models, identified by the PHE-5460 prefix, and ORP measurement models, identified by the ORE-5460 prefix. Both types share the same CPVC construction and flat-surface design but serve different analytical functions; temperature compensation is not required for ORP electrodes.
Model numbers encode specific configurations: PHE-5460 denotes a pH electrode for ¾" pipe, while suffixes "-1" and "-2" indicate compatibility with 1" and 2" pipes respectively. Mounting assemblies follow the PHEH-54 nomenclature, where numeric suffixes correspond to pipe size (e.g., PHEH-54-10 for ¾ NPT). ATC capability is indicated by appending a sensor code such as PT100 or TH700 to the mounting assembly model number.
