Supported Applications
The Omega EMT-3 Series consists of screw plug immersion heaters designed for clean water applications. The series features copper sheath elements and is specified for use with clean liquids within a pH range of 6 to 8.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The OMEGALUX® EMT-3 Series operates at power levels from 3 to 12 kW, supplied by 240 and 480 V, 3-phase electrical connections. The heaters utilize a 2 NPT brass screw plug process connection with copper sheath elements having a diameter of 20 (2"). Watt density ranges from 61 to 67 W/in² depending on the selected power rating.
Safe operation requires an approved temperature control device, as noted in product warnings. The series does not include built-in controls; external process controllers must be specified separately.
Configuration Options
The EMT-3 Series is configurable across power ratings and enclosure types to meet specific installation needs:

Key Product Differences
Variants differ primarily by wattage, voltage designation, and enclosure rating:
- E1 General Purpose Models: Feature a NEMA 1 general purpose terminal enclosure. These units are UL listed with the general purpose enclosure.
- E2 Moisture-Resistant/Explosion-Resistant Models: Include an optional type E2 moisture-resistant/explosion-resistant enclosure. Heaters with explosion-resistant enclosures are CSA NRTL/C certified and are not intended for use in hazardous areas according to the source documentation.
The physical dimensions, specifically Dimension B (cold reference), vary by power rating: 7 inches for 3 kW, 12 inches for 6 kW, 17½ inches for 9 kW, and 24 inches for 12 kW. Weight also increases with wattage and enclosure type.
