Supported Applications

The Omega HB Series consists of two-piece band heaters designed for heating barrels and nozzles on plastic injection molders and extruders. The series is also specified for use with autoclaves and large diameter piping applications.

Operating Conditions & Performance

Housing the high-temperature, tight-fitting mineral-insulated strip heaters within a chrome steel sheath, these units are rated for barrel temperatures to 800°F. The maximum operating temperature for the heater sheath is specified as 1200°F. Electrical operation is provided at 240V.

Configuration Options

The HB Series is constructed with a chrome steel sheath and features slip-proof stainless steel clamping bands for secure installation. Power connection is made via terminal posts integrated into the heater assembly.

Ordering Configuration

Model numbers follow the format HB--. For example, model HB-1120 corresponds to a 2025-watt band heater for an 11-inch barrel diameter.

Options and Accessories

The following options are available as suffixes or separate part numbers:

• Terminal Cover: A sheet metal box that fully encloses the terminals to guard against spillovers, dripping, grounding, or short circuits. To order, add the "/Terminal Cover" suffix to the base part number.
• Ceramic Post Terminal Insulators (Part No. H-TP): Used with insulated wire to protect against electrical shock where Bx or conduit is not required; allows wires to leave heater terminals at any angle for use with #10-32 thread.

Key Product Differences

Variants within the HB Series are distinguished by barrel diameter and wattage output. The series includes specific model numbers such as HB-5075, HB-6410, HB-9217, and HB-2030 to address different thermal loads across the 5 in to 20 in ID range.

While mineral insulated band heaters are available in other sizes and ratings outside this specific series listing, mica insulated band heaters are also noted as an alternative technology.
