The series supports applications including Cooling Coils, Heating Coils, Hot Water Systems, Chilled Water Systems, Hydronic Heating Systems, and Chillers.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The Balco Pipe Mount sensor operates within a temperature range of -40 to 121°C (-40 to 250°F) with an operating humidity rating of 10 to 95% RH condensing. The storage temperature range is specified as -40 to 85°C (-40 to 185°F). Performance characteristics include a sensor accuracy of +/- 1% at 70°F (21.1°C) and a response time of 15 Seconds nominal for a 63% step change.
Configuration Options
The series features a brass sensing enclosure with slight curvature on the bottom to increase surface area and improve thermal conductivity between the pipe and sensor. The sensors utilize ACI's double encapsulation process with thermally conductive epoxy to eliminate moisture effects and enhance response times.
- Process Connection: Designed for pipes or coils from ½" (12.7mm) to 1" (25.4mm) in diameter, supplied with a 7.5" nylon wire tie for fastening.
- Sensor Output: Provides a 1000 Ohms nominal output at 70°F (21.1°C) using two non-polarity sensitive leads.
- Electrical Connection: Standard configuration includes 24 inch 22 AWG Etched Teflon colored lead wires with silver plated copper conductors and MIL-W-16878/4 (Type E) wire rating.
- Configurable Options: Available configurations include standard or extended lead lengths, plenum rated cable options, and NIST Certificates. Accessories such as 2" hose clamps and silicone-free thermal grease are available to improve installation accuracy.
