Supported Applications
The Omega IN series (including models IN-081, IN-083, IN-084, and IN-085) comprises non-contacting integrated displacement sensors designed for measuring relative shaft vibration, relative shaft displacement, and rotor speeds. These eddy-current principle sensors are engineered for use with metallic measuring surfaces, preferably 42CrMo4 steel. The series complies with API 670 and DIN 45670 standards.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The IN-081 series operates within an ambient and process temperature range of 0 °C ... +110 °C. Storage in original packaging is supported from -20 °C ... +70 °C. The sensors provide a linear displacement measuring range of 1.5 mm, with sensitivity specified at -8 mV/μm for material 42CrMo4. A frequency response of 0 ... 2 600 Hz (-3 dB) is documented.
Performance accuracy varies by temperature condition:
- Sensitivity error: < ± 5% at room temperature +22 °C; < ± 10% in operating temperature range
- Deviation from reference line: ± 2% at room temperature +22 °C; ± 10% in operating temperature range
- An extended displacement measuring range of 2.4 mm is available with an additional deviation of 5%
The average working position corresponds to a gap voltage of -9 V. External disturbances such as earth loops, temperature influences, and dielectric influences from oil or gas are noted as negligible.
Configuration Options
The series supports multiple configurations across models IN-081 through IN-085 to accommodate different installation geometries:
- Sensor Lengths (L1): 70 ... 250 mm for IN-081, IN-083, and IN-085; fixed at 70 mm for IN-084. The IN-085 model specifically lists a range of 70 ... 150 mm in variable dimension tables.
- Process Connections: M10 x 1 - 6 g, Ø 8.5 mm or 3/8" - 24 UNF -2 A, Ø 8.2 mm (IN-084 supports only the metric thread).
- Cable Assembly: Approx. 5 m with pig-tails (open ends). Signal cables up to 1000 m can be connected directly.
Sensors are designed for replacement without recalibration. An optional lacquer coating is available for the IN-084 sensor tip and other IN-08x sensors to provide protection against humidity (water).
Key Product Differences
The series distinguishes models primarily by physical dimensions and thread availability:
- IN-081, IN-083, IN-085: Offer variable sensor lengths (70 ... 250 mm or 70 ... 150 mm) and support both M10 x 1 - 6 g and 3/8" - 24 UNF -2 A process connections.
- IN-084: Features a fixed sensor length of 70 mm and supports only the M10 x 1 - 6 g thread. This model is explicitly noted for availability with an optional lacquer coating on the sensor tip.
