Supported Applications
The Omega AHF Series consists of MAXIMUM FLOW AIR HEATERS designed for low pressure, high flow air heating. These duct heaters are engineered for use with blowers or recirculating air systems in baking, drying, and preheating applications.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The AHF series supports exit air temperatures up to 315°C (600°F) and airflow rates up to 200 CFM. The heaters operate on either 120 Vac or 240 Vac power supplies, with individual model wattages ranging from 375 W to 2000 W depending on the selected voltage configuration.
Performance is governed by airflow requirements relative to heating density. According to the CFM vs Max Watts/Linear Inch of Heated Length table:
- At 1 to 10 CFM, maximum loading is 150 watts per linear inch.
- At 20 CFM, maximum loading increases to 175 watts per linear inch.
- At 30 CFM, the limit rises to 275 watts per linear inch.
- At 40 CFM, the limit is 350 watts per linear inch.
- At 50 CFM, the limit reaches 450 watts per linear inch.
- At 60 CFM, maximum loading allows up to 525 watts per linear inch.
The series is rated for low pressure service. The heating element consists of nickel-chrome wire insulated with ceramic beads mounted on a stainless steel support frame within an aluminum tube (60 mm OD).
Configuration Options
The AHF series offers configurable electrical ratings and physical dimensions across its model range:
- Voltage Options: Models are available for 120 Vac or 240 Vac operation. Specific models such as the AHF-12240 and AHF-14240 offer distinct wattage outputs depending on whether they are operated at 120 V or 240 V.
- Power Ratings: Available power levels include 600 W, 1000 W, 375 W (at 120V), 1500 W (at 240V), 500 W (at 120V), and 2000 W (at 240V).
- Heated Lengths: Heated lengths vary by model, ranging from 102 mm (4") to 305 mm (12").
- Total Dimensions: Overall length varies with the heated section, spanning from 152 mm (6") for the AHF-06120 up to 356 mm (14") for the AHF-14240.
The series features a standard 102 mm (4") OD mounting flange with three 7 mm (9/32") diameter holes equally spaced on a 3.25" bolt circle. Electrical connections are provided via post terminals enclosed in a junction box. Weights range from 0.23 kg (0.5 lb) to 0.79 kg (1.75 lb).
Key Product Differences
The AHF series includes specific model variations defined by voltage, wattage, and physical length:
- AHF-06120: 120 Vac, 600 W; heated length of 102 mm (4"); overall length 152 mm (6").
- AHF-10120: 120 Vac, 1000 W; heated length of 203 mm (8"); overall length 254 mm (10").
- AHF-12240: Available in two configurations: 120 Vac at 375 W or 240 Vac at 1500 W; heated length of 254 mm (10"); overall length 305 mm (12").
- AHF-14240: Available in two configurations: 120 Vac at 500 W or 240 Vac at 2000 W; heated length of 305 mm (12"); overall length 356 mm (14").
Stainless steel construction is available as a special option. Custom heaters with modified watts per inch can be ordered by reducing operating voltage or consulting engineering.

What size is the conduit knockout in the junction box?
The information for the knockout is not in any of the documentation but it is most likely a standard size used in electrical applications. If you need to know exactly send your question to temp@dwyeromega.com so it can be researched.

I am making a low temp prepreg oven, I am curious if the AHF-10120 would be heat a area of between 27 to 48 cubic feet using a recirculating fan to about 350 to 400 degrees F.
Thank you for your inquiry. Please email you application requirements to heaters@omega.com and we will review and advise.
