Supported Applications

The Omega Series BSP-7MM comprises metric threaded thermowells designed for industrial process instrumentation. These temperature sensor wells accommodate 6 or 8 mm diameter elements (Series 7MM and 9MM) and ¼" diameter elements (Series 260). The series is engineered to protect temperature sensors in fluid processes while providing a replaceable barrier between the sensing element and the media.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The standard wetted material for this series is 316 SS, with other materials available upon request. PFA coating is offered as an option. The thermowells are configured in straight or tapered designs to suit specific installation geometries.

• Thread Types: BSP (British Standard Pipe) and NPT threads are supported for external connections.
• Bore Sizes: 7 mm BORE for Series 7MM/9MM; 0.260" BORE for Series 260.
• Insertion Lengths (U): Available in discrete steps including 64 mm (2 ½"), 114 mm (4 ½"), 191 mm (7 ½"), 267 mm (10 ½"), 140 mm (5 ½"), 200 mm (7 ¾"), and 260 mm (10 ¼").
• Shank Diameters: Dimensions vary by thread size, including 15.88 mm (5/8") for ½ NPT/BSP configurations, 19.05 mm (3/4") for ¾ NPT/BSP, and 22.22 mm (7/8") for 1 NPT.

The series offers extensive configurability across thread standards, bore sizes, insertion lengths, and design profiles to match specific process requirements.

Thread Configurations

• BSP Threads: Offered in ¼" BSP and ¾" BSP external threads for both tapered or straight wells (Series 7MM/9MM) and Series 260.
• NPT Threads: Available in ½ NPT, ¾ NPT, and 1 NPT sizes for tapered or straight designs across all series variants.

Bore and Element Compatibility

• Series 7MM/9MM supports a 7 mm BORE; to order wells with a 9 mm BORE, replace "7MM" in the model number with "9MM".
• Series 260 is designed for a 0.260" BORE.

Housing and Design Options

• Straight Wells: Identified by the suffix "S" in the model number (e.g., -7MM-S-).
• Tapered Wells: Available for Series 7MM/9MM and Series 260. To order, replace "S" with "H" or "260S" with "260H" in the model number.

Accessories and Finishes

• Caps: Brass cap (suffix "-CC-Brass") or 304 SS cap (suffix "-CC"). These are available for an additional cost.
• PFA Coating: Available upon request; consult omega.com for details.

Key Product Differences

The series distinguishes between metric bore wells (Series 7MM/9MM) and imperial bore wells (Series 260), each with specific model number structures. For Series 7MM/9MM, the format is <EXTERNAL THREAD> - <SERIES> - <INSERTION LENGTH CODE> - <BORE SIZE> - <MATERIAL>. An example configuration is 3/4BSP-7MM-S-U260MM-316SS. For Series 260, the format follows <EXTERNAL THREAD> - <SERIES> - <INSERTION LENGTH CODE> - <MATERIAL>, such as 3/4BSP-260S-U260MM-316SS. Tapered designs require the substitution of "H" for "S" in the model string, and pricing must be confirmed with sales.
