Supported Applications

The FL-500WW Series is an in-line variable area flowmeter engineered for direct flow indication in the 1 to 5% dilute aqueous chemical solutions that are common throughout municipal and industrial water and wastewater treatment. A spring-loaded piston moves within a transparent PVC tube, and its position against a printed dual scale gives an immediate visual reading with no external power required for indication.

Because the wetted path is built from PVC body and end fittings with a titanium shaft and spring, the series is suited to aggressive treatment chemistries. Documented media include Aluminum Sulfate (Alum) and Ferric Chloride for clarification; Chlorinated Water, Potassium Permanganate, Sodium Bisulfite, Sodium Hypochlorite (Bleach) and Chlorine Dioxide for disinfection; Sodium Hydroxide for neutralization; and Sulfur Dioxide (in Water) for dechlorination.

The meter can be mounted in any pipe orientation, making it flexible for retrofits and new skids alike across disinfection, clarification, neutralization and dechlorination duties.

Operating Conditions & Performance

Each meter carries dual GPM and LPM scales. Measurement ranges span from 0.5 to 5 GPM (2 to 20 LPM) at the low end up to 5 to 50 GPM (20 to 200 LPM) at the top of the lineup, with intermediate ranges covering the flows typical of chemical feed lines.

The process temperature rating runs from 21°C (70°F) to 65°C (150°F). Maximum liquid pressure is de-rated with rising temperature: 200 psig (13.79 bar) at 21°C (70°F), 100 psig (6.90 bar) at 38°C (100°F), 75 psig (5.17 bar) at 52°C (125°F), and 50 psig (3.45 bar) at 65°C (150°F).

Overall body length is 177.8 mm (7"). Field-installable accessory switch kits are rated 8 W, 100 Vdc/120 Vac for signaling. Options include NIST-traceable certification and RoHS compliance, and each unit ships complete with an operator's manual.

Configuration Options

The lineup is differentiated chiefly by connection size, flow range and body diameter. The three smaller models use 1" Female NPT end fittings and a body diameter of 50.8 mm (2"), while the four larger models use 1.5" Female NPT end fittings and a 76.2 mm (3") diameter.

Signaling capability is added through two switch kits matched to body size: FL-500-S1 fits the FL-505WW, FL-510WW and FL-515WW, and FL-500-S2 fits the FL-520WW, FL-530WW and FL-550WW. This lets any model in the family be configured for either simple visual indication or switch-based flow signaling.
