Supported Applications
The Series HTDL-20/30 High Temperature Data Logger is designed for thermal work where a compact, self-contained recorder must ride along with the product or process. It can measure temperatures up to 500°F (260°C) and is both submersible and portable, so it can be dropped into baths, run through ovens and chambers, or clamped to equipment for unattended logging. Typical uses include thermal testing and process monitoring or troubleshooting.
Non-volatile solid-state memory retains recorded data even if the battery becomes discharged, which protects results during long runs or transport. A delay startup timer lets the logger be armed in advance and begin recording at the right moment, and remote probe options allow logging inside ovens or chambers while keeping the electronics outside the hot zone. The logger connects to a PC through a docking station and USB cable for setup and data download.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The logger covers a measurement range of -328 to 500°F (-200 to 260°C) and records up to 65,536 readings. Resolution is 0.02°F (0.01°C). Accuracy is specified by band: 0.18°F (0.1°C) @ 68 to 284°F (20 to 140°C), 0.54°F (0.3°C) @ -4 to 67.98°F (-20 to 19.99°C), and 0.72°F (0.4°C) @ -40 to -4°F (-40 to -20°C).
The electronics carry a temperature limit of -40 to 284°F (-40 to 140°C), so the higher measurement range is reached using the probe while the body stays within its rated limits. Sampling can be set to stop on memory full or to continuous recording, with a selectable sampling rate, and battery life is approximately one year. Power comes from a user-replaceable 3.6 V 1/2 AA ER14250SM lithium metal battery that is installed and functional on delivery.
The housing is 316 stainless steel, wetted parts use PEEK thermoplastic and a silicone O-ring, and the logger weighs 4.2 oz (120 g). It is CE marked. Before submerging the device, screw on the cap tightly to make sure the logger is properly sealed; note that starting the device erases all data currently stored in the logger.
Configuration Options
The two models are functionally identical loggers that differ only in the probe supplied, which determines how and where the sensor can reach the measurement point:
- HTDL-20 is fitted with a 2” rigid probe, giving fast, accurate readings when the sensor can be inserted directly and held in place.
- HTDL-30 is fitted with a 24” flexible probe, which can be routed into ovens, chambers, or awkward locations while the logger body remains accessible.
Both models share the same range, resolution, accuracy bands, memory, stainless-steel housing, and user-replaceable battery; the choice between them is driven by probe reach and flexibility.
Key Product Differences
