Supported Applications

The Omega FL-2500 Series consists of direct read acrylic variable area flow meter kits designed for visual flow rate measurement. These meters are intended for use in laboratories, schools, and industrial processes utilizing multiple gases or water. The series is explicitly not designed for patient-connected applications.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The FL-2500 Series operates with a maximum service temperature of 65°C (150°F) and a maximum pressure rating of 700 kPa (100 psig). Accuracy is specified as ±5% of full scale reading. The meters feature clear machined acrylic meter blocks that allow for direct visual monitoring of the float position.

Measurement ranges vary by model number, covering specific fluids including Air, Water, Argon, CO2, Helium, Nitrogen, and Oxygen. Available flow spans include:

• Air: 1.4 SLM (2.8 SCFH) to 50 SLM (100 SCFH)
• Water: 20 CCM (0.3 GPH) to 1400 CCM (22 GPH)
• Argon: 1.1 SLM (2.25 SCFH) to 40 SLM (80 SCFH)
• CO2: 1.1 SLM (2.5 SCFH) to 35 SLM (80 SCFH)
• Helium: 2 SLM (4 SCFH) to 110 SLM (250 SCFH)
• Nitrogen: 1.3 SLM (2.75 SCFH) to 45 SLM (100 SCFH)
• Oxygen: 1.2 SLM (2.5 SCFH) to 45 SLM (90 SCFH)

Each kit includes seven interchangeable direct reading dual scales displaying both metric and English system units, with the air scale installed at shipment.

Configuration Options

The series offers configurable options for fittings, float materials, flow control integration, and sealing elements to match specific process requirements.

• Fittings: Available in Brass or 316 Stainless Steel with ¼ NPT female connections. Models include built-in needle valves (indicated by the "-V" suffix) for flow regulation.
• Float Materials: Options include Black glass, 316 Stainless steel (silver colored), and Tungsten Carbide (Carboloy - silver colored). Float selection is model-dependent based on fluid type and range.
• O-Ring Seals: FKM seals are standard with stainless fittings; Buna seals accompany brass fittings. Optional O-rings include EPR.
• Scales: Interchangeable scales for Air, Water, Argon, CO2, Helium, Nitrogen, and Oxygen allow a single meter block to measure multiple media by swapping the rear-mounted scale plate.

Key Product Differences

The FL-2500 Series is divided into two primary fitting families: Brass Fittings (FL-25xx) and Stainless Steel Fittings (FL-251x). Within each family, models are differentiated by flow range and float material. For example, the FL-2501/FL-2511 pair utilizes a glass float for lower ranges, while higher-range models such as FL-2503/FL-2513 employ Carboloy floats.

Models with built-in needle valves (e.g., FL-2501-V) provide integrated flow control compared to the standard meter-only versions. The series does not support NIST calibration on direct read meters, as noted in product documentation.
