Supported Applications
The CT9000 Series are microprocessor-based circular chart recorders that measure, display and record from 1 to 4 process variables and trace them as analog trend lines onto 254, 280 or 305 mm (10, 11 or 12") charts. A single instrument handles temperature, level, pressure, flow, mass flow, BTUs, relative humidity and other derived variables, making it a flexible choice for process recording.
Inputs are user-configurable to connect directly to thermocouple, RTD, voltage, millivolt, milliamp or switch (contact-closure) signals. A 2-line, 40-character VFD, a 15-key keypad and up to 16 profiles make setup and day-to-day operation straightforward, while up to 4 alarms per variable provide process-high, process-low and rate alarms.
The recorder is housed with a gasketed cover, case and window to a NEMA 3 (IP54) rating and carries UL, cUL and CE marks. Warning: these products are not designed for, and should not be used for, patient-connected applications; read the manual before installing or commissioning the unit.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The universal input accepts a wide set of thermocouple types with the following ranges:
- Type J: -200 to 1200°C (-328 to 2192°F)
- Type K: -250 to 1370°C (-418 to 2498°F)
- Type E: -250 to 1000°C (-418 to 1832°F)
- Type N: -250 to 1300°C (-418 to 2372°F)
- Type T: -250 to 400°C (-418 to 752°F)
- Type R: 200 to 1700°C (392 to 3092°F)
- Type S: 250 to 1750°C (482 to 3182°F)
- Type B: 200 to 1800°C (392 to 3272°F)
- RTD: -200 to 480°C (-328 to 896°F), 100 Ω platinum
DC current inputs cover 0 to 20 mA or 4 to 20 mA with an internal 50 Ω shunt. Thermocouple accuracy is 1°C (1.8°F), chart accuracy is 0.3% of span, measurement error is ±0.025% of measurement span, and cold-junction compensation accuracy is ±0.2°C @ 25°C (±0.36°F @ 77°F). Each input is scanned at a rate of 2 scans/s, and isolation is 500 Vdc/350 Vac.
The recorder operates from 0 to 50°C (32 to 122°F) at 10 to 90% RH non-condensing, stores at -40 to 65°C (-40 to 149°F) and withstands vibration from 0.3 to 100 Hz. Power is 90 to 264 Vac, 50/60 Hz. SPDT relay contacts are rated 5 A resistive @ 115 Vac, solid-state relays provide 40 mA @ 3 Vdc or 20 mA @ 4 Vdc, and current outputs drive a 650 Ω load.
Configuration Options
Models are defined by the number of pens, the number of trend colors and the number of inputs, following the order guide CT91XX - <Number of Pens> - <Number of Colors> - <Number of Inputs>. This lets a recorder be matched precisely to how many variables must be trended and in how many colors.
Capability is then expanded through ordering suffixes, with total relays and SSRs not exceeding 8:
- -AL / -SR - 2, 4, 6 or 8 relay outputs or SSRs.
- -MA1 / -MA2 - one or two 4 to 20 mA outputs.
- -MT1 / -MT2 / -MT3 - math, totalizer, or math and totalizer.
- -EN3 - plastic window (glass is standard).
The optional math capability computes mass flow, BTUs, relative humidity and other derived variables, and four totalizers are included with up to 9 displayable digits. For additional inputs, the last digit of the base number is changed to 2, 3, 4, 6 or 8 to set the total number of inputs.
Key Product Differences
The orderable line spans one to four pens with single- or four-color recording:
- CT9111 - 1-pen, 1-color recorder with 1 input.
- CT9133 - 3-pen, 3-color recorder with 3 inputs.
- CT9144 - 4-pen, 4-color recorder with 4 inputs.
- CT9151 - 1-pen, 4-color recorder with 1 input.
- CT9162 - 2-pen, 4-color recorder with 2 inputs.
- CT9173 - 3-pen, 4-color recorder with 3 inputs.
Consumables and accessories include disposable fiber-tip pen cartridges in red, green, blue and black (for example the CT9000C-RC-GR green/red cartridge), circular chart paper in 254, 280 and 305 mm (10, 11 and 12") sizes, and CT9000-WALL wall-mounting brackets. Each recorder measures 358.65 W x 425.96 H x 196.85 mm D (14.12 x 16.77 x 7.75"), needs a 322.58 W x 322.58 mm H (12.7 x 12.7") panel cutout with 133.35 mm (5.25") depth and 63.5 mm (2.5") protrusion, and weighs 11.34 kg (25 lb).
