Supported Applications

The ACI QTS-6000 Series is a toxic gas transmitter featuring electrochemical sensors designed for continuous monitoring of hazardous gases. The series supports applications in mechanical rooms, warehouses, refrigeration plants, industrial plants, process monitoring, leak detection, parking garages, and auto/truck maintenance facilities.

Available sensor configurations monitor specific toxic gases including Hydrogen Sulphide (H2S), Hydrogen Cyanide (HCN), Chlorine (Cl2), Chlorine Dioxide (ClO2), Sulphur Dioxide (SO2), Nitrogen Dioxide (NO2), Carbon Monoxide (CO), Hydrogen (H2), Ammonia (NH3), and Ozone (O3).

Operating Conditions & Performance

The QTS-6000 Series operates on a +24 VDC nominal power supply (+12 to 36 VDC Load Dependent) with a maximum load of 600 Ohms. The output signal is 4-20 mA (2-Wire, Loop Powered). Accuracy is specified as +/- 2.5% of Reading with repeatability of +/- 1% of Reading.

Operating temperature ranges vary by gas type:

  • H2S: -40 to 122°F (-40 to 50°C)
  • NH3: -13 to 86°F (-25 to 30°C)
  • HCN, Cl2, ClO2, SO2, NO2, CO, H2, O3: -4 to 122°F (-20 to 50°C)

The series operates at atmospheric pressure of 14.696 psi (1.0132 bar) +/- 10%. Humidity ratings are 0 to 90% RH non-condensing for continuous operation and 0 to 95% RH non-condensing for intermittent operation. Response time is typically less than 60 seconds.

Configuration Options

The series offers multiple enclosure options tailored to commercial or industrial environments:

  • Commercial "C" Enclosure: General Purpose (Wall Mount), ABS Plastic, UL94 V-0; NEMA 1 (IP10).
  • Commercial "D" Enclosure: General Purpose (Duct Mount) with flow-through pitot tube sampling kit including 18" (0.46 m) tubing; ABS Plastic, UL94 V-0; NEMA 1 (IP10).
  • Commercial "N" Enclosure: Weatherproof (Wall Mount), ABS Plastic, UL94 V-0; NEMA 4X (IP56).
  • Industrial "E" Enclosure: Industrial Connection Head, Aluminum (Epoxy Coated); NEMA 4X (IP56) and meets Type 7 & 9 Explosion Proof Class 1 Div. 1, Groups B, C, D also Group A.
  • Industrial "S" Enclosure: Industrial Connection Head, 316 Stainless Steel; NEMA 4X (IP56) and meets Type 7 & 9 Explosion Proof Class 1 Div. 1, Groups B, C, D also Group A.

Sensors are electrochemical, non-consuming with a typical life expectancy of 2 to 3 years. Units include on-board sockets for field sensor replacement and Zero/Span adjustment potentiometers for calibration. An optional Gas Calibration Adaptor (Item #126254) is available.

Key Product Differences

Variants differ primarily by gas type, measurement range, enclosure material/rating, and mounting configuration:

  • Sensor Selection: Each model code corresponds to a specific gas (e.g., 110 for H2S, 160 for CO) with fixed factory-set ranges such as 0-25 ppm for H2S or 0-2000 ppm for H2.
  • Enclosure Ratings: Industrial enclosures (E and S) provide explosion-proof ratings (CSA, FM, EX, UL listed), whereas commercial units are rated NEMA 1 or NEMA 4X depending on the model suffix. Note that Cl2, ClO2, HCl, SO2, NO2, NH3, and O3 sensor assemblies are NOT explosion-proof rated.
  • Mounting Height: Recommended mounting heights vary by gas density: Low (9" to 18" above floor), Mid (4ft to 6ft above floor), or High (9" to 18" below ceiling).
