Supported Applications
The ACI Platinum Wall Plate Series is a single-point temperature sensor designed for ambient air and space temperature sensing in commercial heating and cooling building management systems. The series supports applications requiring tamper-proof or secure mounting, including schools, gymnasiums, office buildings, and hallways.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The sensors operate within a range of -40 to 71°C (-40 to 160°F) with an operating humidity rating of 10 to 95% RH, non-condensing. The series utilizes Platinum RTD elements conforming to DIN EN 6075 (IEC 751) standards with a temperature coefficient of 3850 ppm / °C.
Accuracy is specified as Class A (+/- 0.06%) based on the tolerance formula: +/- °C = (0.15°C + (0.002 * |t|)), where |t| is the absolute value of temperature above or below 0°C in °C. Specific accuracy points include:
- -40°C (-40°F): +/- 0.23°C (+/- 0.414°F)
- 0°C (32°F): +/- 0.15°C (+/- 0.27°F)
- 71°C (160°F): +/- 0.292°C (+/- 0.53°F)
Sensor stability is rated at +/- 0.03% after 1000 Hours @ 300°C (572°F). The nominal response time for a 63% step change is 25 seconds.
Configuration Options
The series offers configurable sensor outputs, wire counts, and housing materials to accommodate specific installation requirements. Key capabilities include:
- Sensor Output: A/100-xW-xP Series provides 100 Ohms nominal; A/1K-xW-xP Series provides 1000 Ohms nominal.
- Wire Configuration: Available in Two-Wire (Non-Polarity Sensitive) or Three-Wire (Polarity Sensitive). The three-wire configuration compensates for external lead wire resistance to maintain accuracy when used with a 3-Wire temperature transmitter, PLC, or building management system.
- Housing Material: SP Series features 430 Stainless Steel with a Brushed Satin Finish; AP Series utilizes Aluminum with a Smooth Satin Finish and Clear Anodized coating.
- Electrical Connection: Etched Teflon (PTFE) colored leads per MIL-W-16878/4 (Type E). Lead length is 14" (35.56cm) with a conductor size of 22 AWG (0.65mm).
- Construction: Sensors use ACI's double encapsulation process to eliminate moisture effects and increase thermal response via high-quality, thermally conductive epoxy. A foam pad made of Cross-Linked Polyethylene (FMVSS-302) insulates the sensor from wall drafts.
- Approvals: CE, RoHS, WEEE, UKCA.
Custom ordering options include NIST Certificates (3 Points), Tamper Proof Screws (Item #144865), and Screwdriver Insert Bits (Item #143067). Override and communication jacks may be available upon request.
Key Product Differences
Variants within the series are distinguished by sensor resistance, wire count, housing material, and certification options:
- Sensor Resistance: Models differ between 100 Ohm (A/100) and 1K Ohm (A/1K) nominal outputs.
- Wire Count: Two-wire models are non-polarity sensitive, while three-wire models are polarity sensitive to support lead resistance compensation.
- Housing Finish: The SP configuration provides a stainless steel plate (0.15 lbs / 68.04g), whereas the AP configuration offers an aluminum plate (0.09 lbs / 40.82g).
- Certification: Standard models do not include NIST certification; specific variants are available with a NIST Certificate.
