Supported Applications
The ACI Nickel Bullet Probe series is a temperature sensor designed for monitoring air temperatures in commercial heating and cooling building management systems. The bullet-style probe features a one-inch stainless steel sensing element intended for non-condensing environments. Per manufacturer guidance, the sensor should not be fully submerged in water.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The series operates within an ambient temperature range of -40 to 85°C (-40 to 185°F) and a process measurement range of -40 to 121°C (-40 to 250°F). The sensor utilizes a Nickel RTD element with a Positive Temperature Coefficient (PTC) conforming to Din Standard 43760, providing a temperature coefficient of 6370 ppm/°C. Accuracy specifications vary by operating point: +/- 1.52°C (+/- 2.73°F) at -40°C (-40°F); +/- 0.4°C (+/- 0.72°F) at 0°C (32°F); +/- 0.17°C (+/- 0.34°F) at 21.1°C (70°F); +/- 0.56°C (1.00°F) at 54.4°C (130°F); and +/- 1.25°C (+/- 2.25°F) at 121°C (250°F). The sensor exhibits a nominal response time of 8 seconds for a 63% step change.
Configuration Options
The Nickel Bullet Probe series is configured with specific lead wire options and mounting accessories to accommodate different installation requirements. Key configurable dimensions include:
- Sensor Element: 1 KΩ nominal at 21.1°C (70°F) using a two-wire, non-polarity sensitive configuration.
- Probe Construction: 304 Stainless Steel sheath with an insertion length of 1.00" (25.40mm), diameter of 0.25" (6.35mm), and overall probe dimensions of 1.00" x 0.250".
- Lead Wires: Standard configuration includes two 24-inch, 22 AWG Etched Teflon colored lead wires with Silver Plated Copper conductors rated MIL-W-16878/4 (Type E). Configurable lengths include 6 ft (1.83m), 10 ft (3.05m), and 20 ft (6.10m) CL2P plenum-rated cable or Zip Cord options.
- Mounting: Available with a ¼" Mounting Clip (Item #143351, Galvanized Metal) or a ¼" U-Mounting Clip Adhesive (Item #143352, Plastic w/ Adhesive).
The series supports NIST Certification as an optional feature. Agency approvals include CE, RoHS2, and WEEE; note that the 20' length variant is not CE Compliant but remains RoHS Compliant.
Key Product Differences
Variants within this series differ primarily by lead wire type and length. The standard model A/1K-NI-BP features 24" Etched PTFE colored leads. Extended configurations include the A/1K-NI-BP-10'CL2P with 10 ft CL2P Plenum Leads, the A/1K-NI-BP-20'CL2P with 20 ft CL2P Plenum Leads, and the A/1K-NI-BP-20'Z with 20 ft Zip Cord Leads. All variants maintain the same Nickel RTD sensing element and stainless steel probe geometry.
