Supported Applications

The ACI eSENSE™ Duct series monitors carbon dioxide (CO₂) levels in industrial, school, and office environments. Designed for duct mounting, the transmitter uses single beam non-dispersive infrared (NDIR) technology to measure CO₂ concentration. The device is intended for use with Building Automation or Demand Control Ventilation Systems to reduce energy consumption and improve indoor air quality. Documented applications include commercial office buildings, hospitals, and schools.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series measures a standard sensing range of 0 to 2000 ppm CO₂ concentration. Extended ranges up to 10,000 ppm are available when factory set or configured with the SADK Calibration Kit. Accuracy is specified as ±30 ppm and ±3% of reading for the standard range; extended range accuracy (>2,000 PPM) is ±/– 30 ppm and ±/– 5% of reading. Repeatability is listed at ±20 ppm ±1% of measured value.

Operating conditions require an ambient temperature between 32°F to 122°F (0°C to 50°C) with relative humidity from 0 – 95% RH Non-condensing. The device operates on a power supply of 24 VAC/VDC ±20%; 50/60Hz (Half-wave rectified). Response time is <10 seconds @ 30 cc/min flow rate, or < 3 minutes diffusion time. Annual zero drift is specified as ± 0.3% of measurement range.

Pressure deviation impacts performance at +1.6% per 0.145 psi (1 kPa) deviation from normal pressure (1 Atmosphere = 14.7 psi (1.013 KPa)). The sensor life is rated >15 years in normal Indoor Air Quality (IAQ) applications, excluding corrosive environments.

Configuration Options

The eSENSE™ Duct series offers configurable outputs and display options to suit specific control system requirements. Standard electrical connections utilize 0.00232 in² (1.5 mm²) screw terminals. The enclosure is IP65 rated, constructed from a PC & ABS blend with Flammability Rating UL94V-0; the cover uses Makrolon® 6555 plastic.

Key configurable capabilities include:

  • Output Signals: Standard configuration provides two parallel signal outputs: OUT1 (0-10 VDC) and OUT2 (selectable as 2-10 VDC or 4-20 mA).
  • Status Indication: The OUT2 output indicates status by setting the voltage to 1V or current to 2 mA when a self-diagnostic error is detected.
  • Display Option (-D): An optional LCD display shows CO₂ values in ppm using a 4 digits, 7 segments format with a ppm indicator.
  • Calibration: The device utilizes the Senseair ABC algorithm (Automatic Baseline Correction) to eliminate manual calibration. Custom Calibration and SADK Calibration Kits are available as accessories.

The series supports storage temperatures of -40 to 158°F (-40 to 70°C) for non-display units, or -4 to 122°F (-20 to 50°C) for display-equipped models. Agency approvals include EMC Directive 2014/30/EC, RoHS Directive 2011/65/EU, and RoHS 3 Directive 2015/863/EU.

Key Product Differences

The series includes specific model variations distinguished by display presence. The ESENSE-D is the standard CO₂ Duct Mount with 0-10 VDC and selectable 2-10 VDC or 4-20 mA output. The ESENSE-D-LCD variant adds the optional LCD display showing CO₂ values in ppm while maintaining the same dual-output configuration.

Additional variations include the IP50 housing style (ESENSE-IP50) and options for custom calibration gas or SADK Calibration Kits to adjust measurement ranges up to 10,000 ppm. The ABC algorithm requires building CO₂ levels to drop to 400 ppm some time during the week; if a facility is occupied 24 hrs/day, ABC must be turned off.
