Supported Applications
The Omega PGT series comprises Type T high accuracy pressure test gauges designed for precision measurement in instrument shops, plants, and laboratories. These units serve as master reference instruments for verifying general service gauges, conducting production inspection, performing test stand measurements, and supporting calibration workflows.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The PGT series delivers 0.25% full scale accuracy with a temperature compensation of 0.005% FS/°F. The gauges feature Monel wetted parts (Bourdon tube and connection) to ensure durability in demanding test environments. Standard operating media temperature is rated at 66°C (150°F); while the units will withstand continuous temperatures up to 177°C (350°F), exposure above the standard limit may cause discoloration of the case and dial face.
Measurement ranges span from vacuum to high pressure, including:
- Psi Ranges: Standard scales include 0/15 psi through 0/10,000 psi. Compound ranges such as 30 inHg Vac/0/15 psi and up to 30 inHg Vac/0/400 psi are available.
- Metric Ranges: Special metric configurations support kg/cm² (e.g., 0/1 to 0/600), bar (e.g., 0/1 to 0/600), and kPa scales, including vacuum (-100/0) and compound options.
- Resolution: Minor graduations vary by dial size; for example, the 4½" dial on a 0/15 psi range offers 0.05 psi resolution.
Safety features include a solid front with pressure relief back to contain bourdon tube failure safely within the case.
Configuration Options
The series is configurable across three dial sizes, mounting orientations, and extensive range codes. Model numbers follow the format PGT-DIAL SIZE-CONNECTION-RANGE CODE.
Dial Sizes & Dimensions
- 4½" Dial: Overall height 155 mm (6 1/64 in); width 121 mm (4 3/4 in).
- 6" Dial: Overall height 192 mm (7 9/16 in); width 121 mm (4 3/4 in).
- 8½" Dial: Overall height 257 mm (10 1/16 in); width 121 mm (4 3/4 in).
Housing & Mounting Options
- Casing: Solid aluminum with epoxy-coated black finish.
- Dial Face: Externally adjustable, white background with black graduations and a polished mirror band to prevent parallax error. Features a lightweight friction-adjustable balanced pointer.
- Mounting Styles:
- Lower Connection (L): Stem mounting; includes threaded aluminum ring.
- Back Connection (B): Panel or stem mounting; features a hinged cover ring secured by knurled screw and mounting flange.
- Process Connection: ½ NPT fitting with Monel wetted parts. Thread sizes for the back connection vary: 10-24 (4½" dial) or 1/4-20 (6" and 8½" dials).
Special Service & Accessories
- Oxygen Service: To order cleaned for oxygen service, add suffix '-X6B' to the model number.
- Calibration: NIST-traceable calibration is available as an optional accessory (EI-CAL-3-PRESSURE).
- Cases: A universal carrying case for all size test gauges is offered (PGT-CC).
Key Product Differences
Variants within the PGT series are distinguished primarily by dial diameter, mounting orientation, and pressure range code. The 4½", 6", and 8½" dials provide different minor graduation intervals for a given range; larger dials offer finer resolution (e.g., on a 0/15 psi scale, the 8½" dial provides 0.02 graduations versus 0.05 on smaller sizes). Model numbers encode these distinctions: '45', '60', and '85' denote dial size; 'L' or 'B' indicates lower or back connection respectively.
Range codes define the scale limits, with standard psi ranges (e.g., 15 through 10,000), vacuum-only scales (30V), compound scales (e.g., 30V/15), and special metric configurations. Special dial graduations for non-standard ranges require a minimum order of five pieces per customized dial.
