Supported Applications

The Omega PSW-601 Series consists of industrial solid-state pressure switches designed for high-cycle applications. These electronic control devices utilize a polysilicon thin-film sensor (transducer) to monitor pressure or vacuum conditions with fixed or variable differential settings. The series is engineered for environments requiring long, stable life, specified as a minimum of 1 million cycles at rated load.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The PSW-601 Series operates within an ambient temperature range of -29 to 71°C (-20 to 160°F). Temperature effects on performance are documented as 2% FS/25°C. The switches feature a repeatability and accuracy class of ±0.5% full range. Setpoint ranges span from low-pressure applications starting at 3 psi up to high-pressure configurations reaching 20,000 psi.

Deadband is field-adjustable via potentiometer across a range of 0.1 to 95% of the setpoint range. Visual status indication is provided by LEDs: red indicates pressure below setpoint and green indicates pressure above setpoint. The standard electrical switch rating supports 10 A at 125/250 Vac (resistive and inductive) or 10 A at 30 Vdc (resistive).

Configuration Options

The series offers configurable setpoint ranges, process connections based on pressure rating, and power supply options. The enclosure is anodized aluminum with a watertight NEMA 4 (IP65) rating.

  • Setpoint Ranges: Available from 3 to 30 psi up to 1000 to 20,000 psi. Specific ranges include 3–30, 3–60, 5–100, 10–200, 15–300, 25–500, 35–750, 50–1K, 100–2K, 150–3K, 250–5K, and 375–7.5K psi.
  • Process Connections: Models rated ≤7500 psi feature a ¼ FNPT connection. Models rated >7500 psi utilize a ¼ Aminco-F fitting (indicated by an asterisk in the model number).
  • Power Supply Options: Standard configuration is 24 Vdc (12 mA unactivated, 43 mA activated). Optional AC versions are available: add suffix “-110VAC” for 110 to 120 Vac 50/60 Hz or “-250VAC” for 250 Vac 50/60 Hz.
  • Wetted Materials: The fitting is constructed of 316 SS and the diaphragm of 17-4 PH SS.

Key Product Differences

The series distinguishes between two primary model families based on pressure range and connection type. PSW601B models cover ranges from 3 to 7500 psi with a standard ¼ FNPT process connection. PSW601A models (e.g., PSW601A-10K, -15K, -20K) are designated for higher pressure applications ranging from 500 to 20,000 psi and incorporate the specialized ¼ Aminco-F fitting.

Proof and burst pressures vary by setpoint range. For example, the PSW601B-30 (3–30 psi) lists a proof pressure of 120 psi and burst pressure of 480 psi, while the high-range PSW601A-20K* (1000–20,000 psi) specifies a proof pressure of 24,000 psi and burst pressure of 30,000 psi. Electrical connections are provided via a ½ NPT conduit fitting with #18 AWG insulated wire leads.
