Supported Applications

The Omega PGD Series consists of rugged industrial differential pressure gauges designed to indicate the difference between two input connections. These instruments are constructed with two independent Bourdon tubes linked to a single pinion gear, enabling them to handle liquids or gases on either or both ports simultaneously.

Selection depends on the flow direction relative to the inputs:

  • Differential ranges: Provide maximum resolution for applications where one input is always at a higher pressure than the other.
  • Bi-directional differential ranges: Used in cases where either input can be higher or lower than the other, indicated by center-zero scales (e.g., 15/0/15 psi).

Operating Conditions & Performance

The PGD Series features a large 4½" dial for direct pressure readings and includes a micrometer adjustment for zeroing the gauge. Accuracy is rated at ANSI Grade A, with specific performance defined as "2-1-2% (2% first 10%, 1% middle 80%, 2% top 10%)".

Operational limits are governed by the selected range code:

  • Process Temperature: Up to 65°C (150°F).
  • Static Pressure Limit: Varies by range, from a minimum of 30 psi for the 0/20 psi range up to 1500 psi for ranges such as 0/1000 psi and bi-directional 500/0/500 psi.
  • Media Compatibility: Liquids or gases on either or both ports.

The gauge housing is made of black epoxy-coated aluminum, with wetted materials consisting of bronze tubes and brass fittings. The overall weight is 1.4 kg (3 lb).

Configuration Options

The series offers configurable port locations to accommodate different mounting requirements:

  • Rear Connection (Back): Models designated with "B" in the model number (e.g., PGD-45B) feature ports located at the rear for panel mounting. An optional black flush mount ring, part number PGD-FMR, is available.
  • Lower Connection: Models designated with "L" (e.g., PGD-45L) have ports located in the lower six o'clock position.

All variants utilize a ¼ MNPT process connection. The model number format follows PGD-<MODEL>-<RANGE CODE>, where the range code corresponds to specific differential or bi-directional scales detailed in the specification table (e.g., "20" for 0/20 psi, "15/15" for 15/0/15 psi).

Key Product Differences

Variants within the PGD Series are distinguished by their range code and port orientation. The available measurement ranges include uni-directional options from 0/20 psi to 0/1000 psi, as well as bi-directional scales such as 15/0/15 psi through 500/0/500 psi.

Figure intervals and minor graduations vary by range code; for example:

  • The "20" range (0/20 psi) has a figure interval of 5 with a minor graduation of 0.2.
  • The "1K" range (0/1000 psi) features a figure interval of 100 and a minor graduation of 10.

Physical dimensions remain consistent across the series for the 4½" dial size, with an overall height dimension A of 149 mm (5 7/8 in).
