Supported Applications
The Omega PGS Series consists of General Service Type S pressure gauges designed for industrial applications including steam boilers, pressurized vessels, pumps, compressors, chemical and petrochemical facilities, power plants, and pulp and paper mills. These corrosion, weather, and dust resistant instruments feature a polished stainless steel case with 316 SS wetted parts to withstand demanding environments.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The PGS Series delivers an accuracy of 1% full scale across its measurement envelope. Standard pressure ranges span from 0/15 psi up to 0/10,000 psi. Vacuum and compound options include 30 inHg vac/0/psi combinations (up to 300 psi) and a dedicated vacuum range of 30 to 0 inHg.
Operating conditions are defined by the following limits:
- Max Operating Temp: 66°C (150°F)
- Maximum storage temperature for oil-filled gauges: 82°C (180°F)
- Oil-filled operating range: -40 to 66°C (-40 to 150°F)
To prevent fatigue failure of the Bourdon tube, specifications state that maximum operating pressure should not exceed approximately 75% of the full scale range.
Vacuum and Compound Ranges
- Compound ranges: 30 inHg vac/0/15 psi through 30 inHg vac/0/300 psi
- Vacuum only: 30 to 0 inHg (Range Code 30V)
Configuration Options
The series is configurable across dial sizes, connection orientations, and special service options. Model numbers follow the format PGS-DIAL SIZECONNECTION-RANGE CODE.
Housing and Mounting Options
- Dial Sizes: 63 mm (2½") and 89 mm (3½")
- Connection Orientation: Back connection or Lower connection
- Process Connection: ¼ NPT, 316 SS fitting
- Mounting Styles: Stem mount is standard; flange and "U" bracket mounting are available via accessory kits (UBK-25A/35A for U-bracket; FMK-25A/35A for Flange)
Sensor Materials and Special Options
- Wetted Parts: 316 SS Bourdon tube and fitting
- Case Material: Polished stainless steel with polycarbonate plastic window sealed by a Neoprene gasket
- Silicone Oil-Filled (Suffix 'F'): Available for additional cost; required operating range is -40 to 66°C (-40 to 150°F)
- Oxygen Service Cleaning (Option X6B): Requires Halocarbon gauge fill and incurs an additional cost
Key Product Differences
Variants within the PGS Series are distinguished by dial size, connection location, pressure range code, and optional features.
- Dial Size: Models with "25" denote 63 mm (2½") dials; models with "35" denote 89 mm (3½") dials.
- Connection Type: The letter following the dial size indicates connection orientation: "L" for Lower and "B" for Back. Note that certain ranges may have specific model availability based on pressure limits; for example, lower connections are listed for ranges up to 600 psi in standard configurations.
- Range Codes: The numeric suffix corresponds directly to the full-scale range (e.g., "15" = 0/15 psi, "30V" = 30 to 0 inHg). Compound ranges use a slash notation such as "30V/60" for 30 inHg vac/0/60 psi.
- Oil-Filled Variants: Models with the suffix "-F" are silicone oil-filled. These variants have specific temperature constraints (-40 to 66°C) compared to standard dry gauges (Max Operating Temp: 66°C).
