Supported Applications

The Omega HOBO MX BLE 4-Channel Analog Datalogger (MX1105) is a self-contained wireless data logger designed to measure and transmit analog sensor data via Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE). The series supports energy audits, building commissioning studies, equipment scheduling, and similar applications where mobile device access is required. Users can configure the logger, read out data, view graphs in real-time, check operational status, set alarm notifications, and share data files using Onset's free HOBOconnect app without dedicated hardware beyond a mobile device.

When paired with an MX Gateway, the series enables remote access to data through Onset's cloud-based HOBOlink® software. The logger accepts inputs from various sensors via specific cable adapters for current and voltage measurements.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The HOBO MX1105 operates within an ambient temperature range of -20° to 70°C (-4° to 158°F). The unit carries an IP54 environmental rating. Wireless transmission utilizes Bluetooth Low Energy (Bluetooth Smart) with a radio power output of 1 mW (0 dBm), providing approximately 30.5 m (100 ft) line-of-sight range.

The internal clock maintains time accuracy of ±1 minute per month at 25°C (77°F). The LCD display is visible from 0° to 50°C (32° to 122°F); outside this range, the display may react slowly or go blank.

Configuration Options

The series offers configurable logging parameters and memory management options. Logging rates are adjustable from 1 second to 18 hours. The device supports fixed interval modes (normal or statistics) as well as burst mode. Memory capacity is 4 MB, capable of storing up to 1.9 million measurements.

Memory behavior can be set to wrap when full or stop when full. Start and stop conditions are configurable via immediate start, push button, date & time triggers, next interval, or after a set logging period. The logger restarts via push button activation.

Data is powered by two user-replaceable AAA 1.5 V alkaline batteries. Typical battery life is:

• 1 year with a 1-minute logging interval and Bluetooth Always On enabled.
• 2 years with a 1-minute logging interval and Bluetooth Always On disabled (temperatures between 0° and 50°C / 32° to 122°F).

Faster intervals, statistics sampling, burst logging, continuous app connection, excessive downloads, or paging may reduce battery life. Full memory download takes approximately 4 to 15 minutes depending on the mobile device and distance from the logger.
