Supported Applications

The Omega DRSL series comprises isolated DIN rail signal conditioners designed for the galvanic isolation and conversion of process voltage or current signals. These units interface field instrumentation with SCADA systems or PLC equipment, providing surge suppression and eliminating ground loops in industrial control environments.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series delivers high accuracy performance rated at <±0.05% of span with a temperature coefficient of <±0.01% of span/°C. Signal response time is specified as <7 ms (0 to 90%, 100 to 10%). The units operate within an ambient temperature range of -25 to 70°C (-13 to 158°F) and a storage temperature range of -40 to 85°C (-40 to 185°F). Relative humidity tolerance is rated at 0 to 95% RH non-condensing. The enclosure carries an IP20 protection degree, suitable for Pollution Degree 2 and Measurement/Overvoltage Category II installation areas.

Electrical isolation separates input, output, and supply circuits with a working voltage of 300 Vac and a test voltage of 2.5 kVac. The signal-to-noise ratio exceeds 60 dB. EMC immunity influence is rated at <±0.5% of span, meeting NAMUR NE 21 A Criterion for extended immunity (Burst: <±1% of span).

Input and Output Specifications

The series supports configurable measurement ranges via DIP-switch selection:

  • Current Input: Measurement range up to 0 to 20.5 mA; functional range 0 to 23 mA. Programmable ranges include 0 to 20 mA and 4 to 20 mA.
  • Voltage Input: Measurement range up to 0 to 10.25 V; functional range includes 0 to 11.5 V or 0 to 5.75 V depending on configuration. Programmable ranges include 0 to 5 V, 1 to 5 V, 0 to 10 V, and 2 to 10 V.
  • Current Output: Signal range up to 0 to 20.5 mA (span); programmable for 0 to 20 mA or 4 to 20 mA with a maximum load of 600 Ω at 23 mA and current limit ≤28 mA.
  • Voltage Output: Signal range up to 0 to 10 V; programmable for 0 to 10, 2 to 10, 0 to 5, or 1 to 5 V with a minimum load of >10 kΩ.

The unit provides power supply capability for 2-wire transmitters at >17V/20 mA. Power consumption is 1.2 W max (internal consumption 0.4 W typical / 0.65 W max).

Power and Isolation

The series operates on a power supply of 16.8 to 31.2 Vdc, delivered via Power Rail or connectors.

Configuration Options

The DRSL-DC2 model is the primary isolated DIN rail signal conditioner in this series. The slimline housing measures 113 H x 6.1 W x 115 mm D (4.4 x 0.24 x 4.5") and weighs approximately 70 g (0.15 lb). Mounting is designed for DIN EN 60715 - 35 mm rails.

Electrical connections utilize screw terminals compatible with stranded wire sizes from 0.13 to 2.5 mm² / AWG 26 to 12, requiring a torque of 0.5 Nm for secure termination.

Available Accessories

The series supports the following optional accessories for installation and power distribution:
  • DRSL-PWR-RAIL: Power rail with cover and two end covers (one right hand, one left hand), 1 m (3.3') length.
  • DRSL-PCU: Power connector unit providing 24 Vdc/2.5 A output to the power rail.
  • DRSL-MOD-STOP: Module stop screwed onto the power rail to support and hold mounted devices.

Certifications and Warranty

The series carries CE, UL cUL US, and RoHS certifications. A 1-year warranty is standard; an OMEGACARE™ extended warranty program is available for models shown on this page.

Key Product Differences

The bundle enumerates two variants within the series: DRSL-DC1 and DRSL-DC2. The detailed specifications provided in the source data sheet apply to the DRSL-DC2 model, described as an isolated DIN rail signal conditioner.

Would this work for high speed pulses coming from an encoder?

Asked by: Alff
Thank you for your inquiry. No, it does not support high speed pulses from an encoder. It will only accept dc voltage or current inputs only.
