Supported Applications

The Omega DRSL-TEMP series consists of isolated, DIN rail-mounted temperature signal conditioners designed for industrial process environments. These modules accept standard Type J or K thermocouple inputs and 2-, 3-, or 4-wire Pt100 RTD sensors to provide a passive analog current output signal. The units are engineered with surge suppression and protection against transients and noise, making them suitable for applications requiring reliable temperature monitoring in electrically noisy environments.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The DRSL-TEMP operates within an ambient temperature range of -25 to 70°C (-13 to 158°F) and can be stored between -40 to 85°C (-40 to 185°F). Relative humidity must remain at 0 to 95% RH non-condensing. The device is rated for altitudes up to 2000 m.

Measurement capabilities include:

  • Type J thermocouple: -100 to 1200°C (-148 to 2192°F)
  • Type K thermocouple: -180 to 1372°C (-292 to 2501°F)
  • Pt100 RTD: -200 to 850°C (-328 to 1562°F)

Accuracy is specified as better than 0.5°C or ±0.05% of span (selected input range) for thermocouple inputs, and better than 0.1°C or ±0.05% of span for RTD inputs. Response time is selectable at <30 ms/300 ms.

Configuration Options

The series supports configuration via DIP switches to select from over 1,000 factory-calibrated measurement ranges. The unit features a plastic housing with an IP20 protection degree and mounts directly onto a standard DIN rail (EN 60715) without requiring an air gap.

Power & Isolation

The DRSL-TEMP is loop-powered, drawing power from the host output current signal. It operates on a supply voltage of 5.5 to 35 Vdc with maximum consumption of 0.7 W. The design includes 2-way isolation between input and output.

Output & Connections

The module provides an analog current output configurable for 0 to 20 mA or 4 to 20 mA signals. Electrical connections are made via screw terminals using only 60/75°C copper conductors. The load resistance is defined as ≤(V_supply - 5.5)/0.023 Ω.

Approvals & Safety

The device complies with CE, UL US (UL 61010-1), and RoHS standards. It meets EMC directive 2004/108/EC (EN 61326-1) and LVD directive 2006/95/EC (EN 61010-1). Safe isolation is certified to EN 61140, with reinforced isolation spanning test values of 2.5 kVAC / working voltage of 300 VAC.

Key Product Differences

The primary model in this series is the DRSL-TEMP isolated DIN rail loop-powered temperature signal conditioner. While broader family documentation references additional variants such as DRS-L-TC, DRS-L-RTD, and non-loop powered versions (DRS-L-TEMP), the specific data sheet for this series focuses on the loop-powered configuration with Pt100 RTD and Type J/K thermocouple inputs.

Available accessories include:

  • RAIL-35-1: 35 mm (1.4") DIN rail, 1 m (3.3') length
  • DRSL-MOD-STOP: Module stop screwed onto the DIN rail to support and hold mounted devices
