Supported Applications
The Omega TTUH and TTUH-CO series are high watt density immersion heaters designed for food equipment applications. These units feature copper sheaths and brass flanges, intended for mounting through a hole in the bottom of a vessel. Documented application areas include coffee urns, steam tables, kettles, and humidifiers.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The series supports power ratings ranging from 1 kW to 9 kW across single-phase and three-phase configurations. Watt density varies by model size, with documented values including 40 W/in², 53 W/in², 60 W/in², up to 85 W/in² depending on the specific kW rating and phase selection.
Electrical supply options include 120 V, 208 V, 240 V, and 480 V at both single-phase (1 ph) and three-phase (3P). The heaters are UL Listed and CSA Listed. Minimum liquid depth requirements differ by series configuration: the TTUH-CO Series requires a minimum of 2 1/2" for single-phase models and 3" for three-phase models.
Configuration Options
The product line encompasses two distinct model families with different protection features:
- TTUH-CO Series: Includes an integral low liquid thermal cutout for protection. Available in single-phase and three-phase versions.
- TTUH Series: Does not include a built-in low liquid cutout. Models are designated with suffixes such as "A" or specific voltage codes (e.g., TTUH-10A/120, TTUH H-303/240/3P).
Physical construction features a brass flange and copper sheath. The process connection is specified as a Brass Flange with a 6 cm (2 7/16") diameter opening for the TTUH-CO series, while overall dimensions vary by power rating.
Electrical Connections
The units utilize a 4 (10) Conduit Box. Voltage designation is required in the model number to specify the exact supply voltage (e.g., insert "208" for 208V or "240" for 240V).
Key Product Differences
The primary distinction between series variants lies in the presence of safety cutouts and phase configuration. The TTUH-CO models are identified by the inclusion of a low liquid thermal cutout, whereas standard TTUH models lack this integral feature.
Differences also exist in dimensional envelopes based on power output. For example, single-phase 1 kW to 7 kW units (TTUH Series) show overall length dimension "A" ranging from 6 3/4 inch to 14 1/2 inch. Three-phase models generally require a deeper minimum liquid level of 3 inches compared to the 2 1/2 inch requirement for single-phase TTUH-CO units.
Model numbering follows specific patterns: TTUH-CO-/ for cutout-equipped heaters and TTUH-A/ or similar formats for non-cutout versions. Some three-phase models include an "H" designation (e.g., TTUH H-303/240/3P).
