Supported Applications
The Omega TLI and KTLI series consists of over-the-side immersion heaters designed for vessels where through-the-side installation is not convenient. These units are installed through the top of a vessel, positioning the heated portion along the side or at the bottom of the tank. The heavy-duty Incoloy® construction makes these heaters suitable for corrosive fluids and specific process environments.
Documented applications include:
- Alkaline soaking
- Cleaning copper sulfate solutions
- Electro cleaners
- Mild acid baths
- Wash and dip tanks containing alkali, oakite, caustic soda, detergent, and other aqueous solutions
Operating Conditions & Performance
The series features heavy-duty Incoloy® heating elements with an Incoloy riser and junction box. The design supports a surface loading of 40 W/in² for both two-element and three-element configurations.
Power supply options include 120, 240, and 480V at 1 or 3 phase. Electrical connections are provided via terminal houses or lead wires. The heaters carry UL and CSA approvals and are made in the USA.
Configuration Options
The TLI-KTLI-HEATER series is configurable across power ratings, physical dimensions, and electrical phases to accommodate specific tank geometries and heating requirements.
Power Ratings and Element Configuration
- Two-element models: Available in 2 kW, 4 kW, 6 kW, 8 kW, 10 kW, and 12 kW ratings.
- Three-element models: Available in 3 kW, 6 kW, 9 kW, 12 kW, 15 kW, and 18 kW ratings.
Dimensions and Tank Clearance
Riser lengths (A) are offered at 36 inches (91 cm) or 48 inches (121 cm). Minimum tank clearance requirements (B) vary by model, ranging from 10½ inches (27 cm) to 23¾ inches (59 cm).
Electrical and Control Options
- Voltages: Designate voltage in the model number for 120V, 240V, or 480V.
- Phase configuration: Add the suffix "3P" to the model number for 3-phase power applications.
- Optional Thermostat Kits: Available to fit into the heater terminal box.
Key Product Differences
The series is divided into two primary model families distinguished by their element count and resulting performance envelope:
- TLI Series (Two Elements): Models designated with the TLI prefix utilize a two-element configuration. These are available in power ratings from 2 kW to 12 kW.
- KTLI Series (Three Elements): Models designated with the KTLI prefix utilize a three-element configuration, offering higher density heating options ranging from 3 kW to 18 kW within similar physical footprints for certain riser lengths.
Model numbers follow the format TLI---- or KTLI----. For example, TLI-220A-036/120 represents a 2 kW two-element heater with a 36-inch riser and specific clearance requirements for 120V operation.
