Supported Applications
The Weiss 7" and 9" Vari-Angle® Industrial Glass Thermometer series is designed for commercial and institutional HVAC systems. Documented applications include hot and chilled water loops, glycol systems, boilers, and air ducts.
Operating Conditions & Performance
This glass thermometer meets ASME standard B40.200 with an accuracy of ±1% of scale range. The series offers multiple measurement ranges to accommodate specific process needs:
- -40/110°F (-40/40°C)
- 0/120°F (-10/50°C)
- 0/160°F (-15/70°C)
- 30/180°F (0/80°C)
- 30/240°F (0/115°C)
- 30/300°F (0/150°C)
The instrument features a Vari-Angle® design with a heavy glass window. The case is constructed from GE Valox® polyester, 40% glass/mineral reinforced, black textured finish.
Configuration Options
The series supports various stem lengths and wetted material configurations depending on the temperature range:
- Stem Lengths: Available in 3½" or 6" options. A 6" Air Duct Stem is offered as an accessory.
- Wetted Materials: Standard construction uses precision die cast Zamac alloy. Options include a brass extension for specific ranges, and for ranges above 300°F, the series offers a precision machined aluminum alloy with copper plated steel stem extension.
- Housing & Protection: The GE Valox® polyester housing completely encloses the capillary to prevent tampering and foreign matter from entering the instrument. A Plastic Lens Front is available as an option.
Additional options include a Stainless Steel Bulb Chamber & Swivel Nut, Celsius Only Ranges, and E Series Thermowells for thermowell connections only.
Key Product Differences
The series includes 7" (7VU) and 9" (9VU/9VD) face sizes. Model numbers follow the pattern 7VU35 - <Range Code>, 7VU6 - <Range Code>, 9VU35 - <Range Code>, 9VU6 - <Range Code>, or 9VD6 - <Range Code>. Range codes correspond to the specific temperature span and scale division, such as 110F for a -40/110°F range with 2° divisions, or 300FC for a dual-scale 30/300°F (0/150°C) range.
