Supported Applications

The Omega DP7000 Series Temperature Digital Controller is designed for heating and cooling applications requiring temperature monitoring with alarm or on/off control output. The series features an internal audible buzzer and a bright-red 3-digit LED display suitable for industrial chillers, environmental chambers, walk-ins, freezers, heat sealers, sterilizers, coolers, display cases, warmers, meat and produce storage, floral preservation, laboratories, food service equipment, ovens, dryers, tool rooms, and burn-in rooms.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The DP7000 Series accepts Type J or K thermocouple inputs with a measurement range of 32 to 999°F (0 to 999°C). Accuracy is specified as ±1% FS, and the display resolution is 1°. The unit operates within an ambient temperature range of 32 to 158°F (0 to 70°C) and can be stored between -4 to 176°F (-20 to 80°C). Enclosure protection meets NEMA 4X (IP64) ratings. Installation warnings specify that the unit must be mounted away from vibration, impacts, water, and corrosive gases, and probe cables should not be installed near power cables.

Control & Alarm Parameters

The controller supports programmable parameters including set point (SP), hysteresis (r0: 1 to 99 Degrees), cycle time (c0: 0 to 999 Seconds), and ambient probe adjustment. The output is an SPDT relay rated at 16A @ 240 VAC resistive, configured for simple on/off control or alarm functions.

Response Time Configuration

Probe response time (P6) is configurable via parameter settings: 0=8 sec, 1=4 sec, 2=2 sec, and 3=1 sec. The unit includes error and alarm warning capabilities with password protection for the silicone front keypad.

Configuration Options

The series is available in eight distinct models (DP7001 through DP7008) configured by power supply voltage, temperature scale display, and input type. All variants support Type J or K thermocouple inputs; the manual notes that parameter P5 allows selection of tcJ, tch, or tcS.

Power Supply & Display Options

  • 115 VAC: DP7001 (°F), DP7002 (°C)
  • 230 VAC: DP7003 (°F), DP7004 (°C)
  • 12 VAC/VDC: DP7005 (°F), DP7006 (°C)
  • 24 VAC/VDC: DP7007 (°F), DP7008 (°C)

Housing & Dimensions

The unit features a front panel with overall dimensions of 75 mm width x 34 mm height and a depth of 69 mm. The required cutout for the panel is 71 x 29 mm (2.80 x 1.14"). Electrical connections are made via terminals: Probe input at terminals 1,2; Power Supply at 7,8; and Output at 9,10,11 with NC, COM, NO configurations.

Approvals & Accessories

The series carries CE and UL (cUR) certifications. An optional noise suppression kit (CNQUENCHARC) is available for 110 to 230 Vac applications.

Key Product Differences

Variants within the DP7000 Series differ primarily by power supply voltage and display unit selection. Models ending in odd numbers (DP7001, DP7003, DP7005, DP7007) are configured for Fahrenheit (°F), while even-numbered models (DP7002, DP7004, DP7006, DP7008) display Celsius (°C). The input type is listed as Type J/K across the standard model lineup in the data sheet "To Order" table. All variants share identical physical dimensions, enclosure ratings, and relay output specifications.

Rated 1 out of 5 by from Not Working Right out of the box, this looks used. The instructions and label on the device are soiled, and looked like they got wet or heated.... Very disappointed.. I need one of these yesterday...

Does the alarm always sound, or can you set it below the heater element setpoint?

Asked by: StephenC
The buzzer will go off when the measured temperature is above or below your alarm setpoint depending on how the Controller is programmed. In normal control mode the alarm would not buzz.
