Supported Applications
The Omega H, GL, and HL series comprises all-stainless-steel (except dial) bimetal thermometers designed for lab and test applications. These hermetically sealed instruments are configured to measure temperature in media including air, asphalt, babbit, cement, chemicals, food products, water, and waste.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The series offers a broad envelope of measurement ranges across Fahrenheit, Celsius, and dual scales. Available Fahrenheit spans include -100 to 100°F, 0 to 250°F, 50 to 500°F, and up to 200 to 1000°F. Celsius options range from -70 to 40°C through high-temperature configurations such as 100 to 500°C. Dual-scale dials provide simultaneous readings for ranges like 50 to 500°F / 10 to 260°C and 200 to 1000°F / 100 to 500°C.
Dial divisions vary by range, with resolutions of 1°, 2°, 5°, or 10° depending on the selected span. The instruments feature a stainless steel sheath and housing material suitable for these environments.
Dimensional Specifications
- Model H: Head O.D. of 2.37"; stem diameter of 0.250"; plain bushing diameter of 0.330" with a length of 0.175".
- Model GL: Head O.D. of 1.73"; stem diameter of 0.250"; hex reset bushing diameter of 0.25" and length of 0.12".
- Model HL: Head O.D. of 2.37"; stem diameter of 0.250"; hex reset bushing diameter of 0.25" and length of 0.12".
Configuration Options
The series supports multiple mounting configurations, stem lengths, and scale options to accommodate specific installation requirements.
Model Configurations
- Model H: Available with various temperature ranges, stem lengths from 4" to 9", and different mounting styles. A 6" stem is available as standard for this model.
- Models GL and HL: Offered exclusively in an 8" stem length configuration. These models are supplied plain (no threads) with no additional options on the stem itself.
Scales and Divisions
Dials are available in Fahrenheit-only, Celsius-only, or dual-scale formats. Specific range/division combinations include:
- 25 to 125°F with 1° divisions.
- -40 to 70°C with 1° divisions.
- 50 to 650°F with 10° divisions.
Options and Accessories
The following options are available for the series:
- External mounting bracket: Available as an accessory ($6).
- Reset bushing: Now available; consult Sales Department.
- Pointed stem (Model GL only): Add "PS" to the model number and $4 to the price.
Key Product Differences
The primary distinctions between models lie in head size, bushing type, and stem length availability. Model H features a larger 2.37" O.D. head compared to the 1.73" O.D. head of Model GL; Model HL matches Model H's 2.37" head but utilizes a hex reset bushing similar to Model GL.
Model H is configurable with stem lengths between 4" and 9", whereas Models GL and HL are fixed at an 8" stem length. Additionally, the ordering structure differs: Model H follows the format <Model>-<Range>-<Stem Length>-<Mounting> (e.g., H-0-100F-9-PLAIN), while Models GL and HL follow a simplified range-based structure.
Note: Minimum stem length is 4" for all models. For specific pricing on various stem lengths, refer to page E-12 of the source documentation (not included in this bundle).

If measuring a liquid, what operating pressure could the probe withstand?
Thank you for your inquiry. The probes are not pressure-rated. You can use them with a pressure-rated thermowell.
