Supported Applications
The Dwyer Series TE-SNW is a weather-resistant surface temperature sensor designed to non-intrusively measure process temperatures in hot and cold water loops within buildings. The device utilizes an adjustable metal strap that fits around pipe sizes ranging from 2 to 6 inches, allowing the copper plate on the sensor to establish contact with the pipe surface for measurement.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The Series TE-SNW operates across a temperature range of -32 to 240°F (-35.5 to 115.5°C). Accuracy specifications vary by sensor type: Thermistor sensors provide ±0.22°C @ 25°C (±0.4°F @ 77°F), while RTD sensors meet DIN Class A standards with an accuracy of ±0.15°C @ 0°C (±0.28°F @ 32°F). The housing is constructed from polycarbonate plastic that meets UL 94 V-0 and carries a NEMA 3R enclosure rating.
Configuration Options
The series offers six distinct sensor configurations to interface with common building controllers. Available output signals include:
- TE-SNW-A: 10 kΩ type III thermistor
- TE-SNW-B: 10 kΩ type II thermistor
- TE-SNW-C: 3 kΩ thermistor
- TE-SNW-D: Pt100 Ω RTD
- TE-SNW-E: Pt1000 Ω RTD
- TE-SNW-F: 20 kΩ thermistor
Mechanical features include a quarter-turn twist-off cap chained to the housing and multiple conduit knockout locations (two PG11, two PG16) for electrical connections. Wetted materials consist of a copper plate and stainless steel mounting plate.
Key Product Differences
Variants within the Series TE-SNW differ primarily by their internal sensor element type and resistance curve (Thermistor vs. RTD). The physical housing, strap mechanism for 2 to 6" pipe sizes, NEMA 3R rating, and overall dimensions remain consistent across all models in this series.
