Supported Applications
The OMEGAFLEX® VINYL TUBING series (TYVY) provides a clear, flexible solution for fluid transfer in general applications. The tubing is designed as an economical means of conveying fluids where hydrocarbon exposure is not present.
- General fluid transfer
Operating Conditions & Performance
The series operates within specific thermal and pressure limits defined by the vinyl material properties. Key performance parameters include:
- Maximum Operating Temperature: 80°C (175°F)
- Brittle Temperature / Storage Temp: -40°C (-40°F)
- Working Pressure at 68°F: Ranges from 15 to 80 psi depending on the specific model and dimensions.
The working pressure ratings are based on short-term burst testing using a 4 to 1 safety factor. Material specifications list a Hardness of Shore A ±5 (68), Specific Gravity of 1.20, Tensile Strength of 2000 psi, and Elongation at Break of 400%.
Media Compatibility
The tubing is not compatible with hydrocarbons such as gasoline, kerosene, or diesel fuel. Intermittent exposure to these media will cause premature hardening and failure of the tubing.
Configuration Options
The TYVY series covers a broad envelope of dimensions across two primary size ranges: 1/8" to 3/4" OD tubing, and 1 1/16" to 4 3/7" (listed as up to 4 3/4") OD tubing. Variants are configured by outer diameter (OD), inner diameter (ID), wall thickness, and standard length.
- Standard Lengths: Available in lengths of 50 ft, 100 ft, 200 ft, and 500 ft depending on the model size.
- Dimensions: Wall thicknesses range from 1/32" to 3/8", with corresponding ODs ranging from 1/8" up to 4 3/4". IDs vary accordingly, such as 1/16" for the smallest models and up to 4" ID in larger configurations.
- Specialty Options: Stainless steel overbraided, coiled, and other specialty tubing are available upon request through Omega's Flow Engineering Department.
Key Product Differences
The series utilizes a model number structure of TYVY-<SIZE>-<LENGTH>, where the size segment encodes wall thickness, OD, and ID dimensions. For example, TYVY-3438-100 denotes 100 ft of tubing with specific dimensional parameters.
- Smaller diameter models (e.g., 1/8" to 7/16" OD) are frequently offered in longer standard lengths such as 500 ft or 200 ft, while larger diameters typically ship in 50 ft or 100 ft coils.
- Weight per 100 ft varies significantly by size and wall thickness, ranging from approximately 0.51 lbs/100 ft for small tubing to over 300 lbs/100 ft for the largest diameters (e.g., TYVY-4344-50).
RoHS compliance is determined by individual model number; specific status should be verified via Omega's RoHS resource.
