Supported Applications

The Omega HE359 Series Universal Remote I/O Modules are designed for industrial applications requiring high-resolution analog input with Modbus/RTU communication. These SmartMod modules interface directly with OCS controllers to extend PLC capabilities, supporting configurations via Modbus registers.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The series operates within an ambient temperature range of -10° to 60° Celsius and a storage temperature range of -40° to 85° Celsius. Relative humidity is rated at 5 to 95% Non-condensing. The modules feature optical isolation with a rating of 2000Vac for 60 seconds (Input/Power & Input/Comms). Power requirements are supplied via an external source of 10-30Vdc, drawing approximately 30mA @ 24Vdc in steady state.

Performance specifications vary by model type. The analog input models support +/-10V ranges with a resolution of Approximately 16-Bit and linearity of +/-%0.1%. Input impedance is specified at 1MOhm. Communication occurs over RS-485 (Modbus/RTU) half duplex, supporting baud rates up to 38400.

Configuration Options

The HE359 Series offers a broad envelope of I/O configurations including analog input, digital input/output, and temperature sensing. The series supports the following functional capabilities:

  • Analog Input (ADC): Models such as HE359ADC107 provide 4 channels, while models like HE359ADC207 offer 8 channels of +/-10V input.
  • Digital I/O: Variants include digital inputs and outputs for discrete control signals (e.g., HE359DIM610, HE359DIQ512).
  • Temperature Sensing: Dedicated modules support RTD and thermistor measurements (e.g., HE359RTD100, HE359THM100, HE359THM200).

All models utilize Screw Type, Removable electrical connections. The physical dimensions for the module family are 17.5mm x 100mm x 120mm (0.69" x 3.94" x 4.72") with a weight of 150g (6 oz.).

Key Product Differences

The series is distinguished by the number and type of I/O channels available in each model:

  • Analog Input Models: Differentiated by channel count; ADC107 models provide 4 input channels, whereas ADC207 models provide 8 input channels.
  • Digital & Temperature Models: Separate SKUs exist for digital I/O (DIM/DIQ) and specific temperature sensor types (RTD/THM), allowing selection based on the required signal type rather than a universal multi-function module.

Configuration is handled via Modbus registers, including settings for communications parameters (baud rate, parity, data bits), watchdog timers, and individual channel enable/disable states. The default communication setup includes 38400 baud, N, 8, 1, with a Default Modbus ID of 1.
