Supported Applications
The Omega SGT-Uniaxial series consists of linear pattern strain gages designed to measure strain in a single direction. These transducer-quality sensors are used for experimental stress analysis and general transducer applications. The product line includes miniature linear patterns intended for the measurement of stress concentration or high gradient areas, alongside larger size options.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The series offers nominal resistance values of 350 Ω and 1000 Ω across various gage pattern sizes. Maximum permitted bridge energizing voltage (Vrms) varies by model number and termination type, ranging from 4.5 Vrms to 15 Vrms as specified in the selection tables. Dimensions are provided for the pattern gage grid length (A), width (B), matrix or carrier length (C), and width (D). The patterns include alignment triangles.
Configuration Options
The SGT-Uniaxial series is configurable across multiple parameters to suit specific installation requirements:
- Gage Patterns: Available in various sizes, including miniature linear patterns for high gradient areas and larger standard configurations.
- Nominal Resistance: Options include 350 Ω and 1000 Ω models.
- Termination Types: Models are offered with Ribbon Leads or Solder Pads. Termination can be located at one end of the grid or with one lead/pad at each end of the grid.
- Temperature Compensation (TEMP COMP): The series supports compensation for Steel ('ST') and Aluminum ('AL').
- Packaging: Models are supplied in packages of 5.
Accessory bondable terminal pads (BTP) are available in several sizes and wiring configurations, including BPT-1, BPT-2, and BPT-3. Additional accessory options include Bondable Terminal Pads with designations such as BTP, BTPD, BTPC, BTPB, and BTPE.
Key Product Differences
The series distinguishes models by gage pattern size (e.g., SGT-1 at 4.0 mm grid length, SGT-3E at 8.8 mm), nominal resistance, termination method, and temperature compensation material.
- Termination Differences: Models ending in 'TY1' feature Ribbon Leads, while those ending in 'TY4' utilize Solder Pads.
- Compensation Codes: The model suffix indicates the compensated base metal: '-ST' denotes Steel compensation and '-AL' denotes Aluminum compensation. Some models with AL compensation include a specific Bondable Terminal Pad (e.g., BPT-1, BPT-2, or BPT-3) as indicated in the selection table.
- Resistance Variants: While most patterns are available at 350 Ω, select miniature sizes such as SGT-1A are offered with a nominal resistance of 1000 Ω.
