Supported Applications

The Dwyer Series TFP-GV Gas Turbine Flow Meters are designed for industrial, commercial, and laboratory flow applications. These meters measure volumetric gas flow using a turbine wheel and electro-optical detection to generate a linear output signal suitable for recording and data logging. The series is calibrated with Air as the reference media; gases with different physical characteristics may affect calibration.

Applications include monitoring clean dry gases compatible with wetted materials. A caution in the documentation states: "DO NOT FLOW ANY LIQUID THROUGH A GAS FLOW SENSOR OR FLOW METER." Additionally, high-pressure gas bursts must be avoided to prevent unit damage.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The Series TFP-GV operates within a process temperature range of 41 to 131°F (5 to 55°C) and has a storage temperature rating of 32 to 158°F (0 to 70°C). The meters are rated for pressures up to 40 psig (2.8 bar).

Performance specifications include an accuracy of ±3% of full-scale and repeatability of ±0.5% of full-scale. The electrical output is a linear 0 to 5 VDC signal requiring a minimum load resistance of 2.5 kΩ. Power supply requirements are 11.5 to 15 VDC, delivered via a four-pin power and signal connector.

The enclosure rating is IP10 (NEMA 1). The unit weight is listed as 0.16 lb (75 g).

Configuration Options

The series offers multiple flow ranges to accommodate varying process needs, from low-flow laboratory setups to higher-volume industrial lines.

  • Flow Ranges: Available models cover .042 to 1.1 SCFH (.02 to .5 LPM) up to 85 to 420 SCFH (40 to 200 LPM).
  • Housing Material: PPS Body.
  • Wetted Materials: Includes PPS, acetal, sapphire, glass, epoxy, and fluoroelastomer.
  • Process Connections: Compression fittings vary by model size: 1/8" OD (TFP-GV03 to TFP-GV06), 1/4" OD (TFP-GV07 to TFP-GV09), 3/8" OD (TFP-GV10, TFP-GV11), and 1/2" OD (TFP-GV12, TFP-GV13).
  • Electrical Connection: Four-pin power and signal connector. A power adapter or mating cable is required for operation.

Optional accessories include the A-454 (115 VAC Power Adapter and Signal Cable), A-455 (230 VAC Power Adapter and Signal Cable), and A-456 (36" Mating Cable with Spliced Leads).

Key Product Differences

The Series TFP-GV is distinguished by specific model codes that define the flow range and physical dimensions. Models are designated as TFP-GV03 through TFP-GV13.

  • Low Flow Configuration: Models TFP-GV03, TFP-GV04, TFP-GV05, and TFP-GV06 utilize 1/8" OD compression fittings with an overall dimension "A" of 3-27/64 inches.
  • Mid Flow Configuration: Models TFP-GV07, TFP-GV08, and TFP-GV09 use 1/4" OD connections with a dimension "A" of 3-13/16 inches.
  • High Flow Configuration: Models marked with an asterisk (TFP-GV10*, TFP-GV11*, TFP-GV12*, TFP-GV13*) are configured for high flow. These models feature larger connections (3/8" OD or 1/2" OD) and increased overall lengths of either 7-7/64 inches or 7-1/2 inches.
