Supported Applications

The Omega FPD3200 Series consists of threaded and flanged positive displacement flow meters designed for industrial processes involving non-abrasive lubricating fluids. These oval gear flowmeters maintain consistent accuracy across a wide range of fluid viscosities, from 1 cPs to 1000 cPs standard. The series is suitable for both gravity-fed systems and in-line pump applications where low pressure drop is required.

Installation does not require straight run piping upstream or downstream. To protect the meter internals from dirt or foreign matter, a Y or Basket type mesh strainer is recommended on the inlet side.

Operating Conditions & Performance

The FPD3200 Series operates within a liquid temperature range of -40 to 80°C (-40 to 176°F). Accuracy is specified as ±0.5% of reading with repeatability of ±0.03%. Maximum pressure ratings vary by model size, ranging from 1000 psi (6895 kPa) for the FPD3202 and FPD3207 models to 2002 psi (13790 kPa) for sizes up to 1".

Flow ranges are dependent on port size and fluid viscosity. For fluids with viscosity less than 5 cPs, the range spans from 2 LPH (FPD3202) to 500 LPM (FPD3207). For viscosities greater than 5 cPs, specific models offer ranges such as 15 to 500 LPH for the FPD3203 and 6 to 120 LPM for the FPD3205.

Configuration Options

The series offers configurable output signals, display options, and connection types tailored to specific installation needs:

  • Pulse Output (Standard): Available on all models for external data loggers or PLCs. Sensor power requirements are 4.5 to 24 Vdc (7.5 mA) for Hall-Effect sensors and 30 Vdc (500 mA) for Reed sensors.
  • Digital Display (-D Option): Battery-powered models feature a 7-digit/12 mm upper display and 7-digit/7 mm lower display, powered by an included 3 Vdc lithium battery. These provide user-defined rate readout with resettable total and non-resettable accumulated-total functions.
  • 4 to 20 mA Transmitter (-D-A Option): DC-powered models include a digital display plus a 4 to 20 mA output signal, requiring an external power supply of 18 to 30 Vdc. Electrical connections for these options utilize two 12 mm fittings.
  • Process Connections: Standard configurations feature NPT or BSP threads (BSP option). Flanged versions are available on sizes 1" and larger with DIN, JIS, or ANSI flange options.

The meter body is constructed of stainless steel. Wetted materials include FEP seals and PPS rotors. The enclosure for display models is polypropylene rated NEMA 6 (IP67).

Key Product Differences

Variants within the series are distinguished by port size, output configuration, and connection type:

  • Pulse-Only Models: Base models such as FPD3202 through FPD3207 provide standard pulse outputs with a 1 m (3') stripped cable.
  • Battery-Powered Display (-D): Adds an integrated LCD for direct volume readout without external power. Available on sizes from ¼" to ¾" and select larger sizes.
  • DC-Powered Transmitter (-D-A): Combines the digital display with a 4 to 20 mA analog output, intended for integration into control systems requiring continuous signal transmission.
  • Flanged Configurations: Models designated for flange mounting (e.g., FPD3205-DIN) are restricted to port sizes of 1" and larger. Threaded connections remain available across the full size range from ¼" to 4".
