Supported Applications
The Omega M12 Series consists of thermocouple probes designed for temperature measurement with integral mounting threads and M12 connectors. The series offers Type J and K thermocouple calibrations in single and dual element configurations featuring ungrounded junctions.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The documented operating ambient temperature range is -50 to 85°C (-58 to 185°F). Probes are vibration tested at 3g's between 5 and 500 Hz for 3 hours in axial and transverse axes. Sheath materials correspond to the thermocouple type: Type J probes utilize 304 Stainless Steel sheaths, while Type K probes use Inconel 600 sheaths.
Configuration Options
The series is available in Standard Sizes and Metric Sizes with configurable probe diameters, lengths, mounting threads, and element counts. M12 4-pin connectors are standard on all models.
- Sensor Elements: Type J or K thermocouple calibrations; single or dual element configurations (add "DUAL" to model number).
- Diameters: Standard Sizes offer 1/8" or 1/4" diameters. Metric Sizes offer 3 mm or 6 mm diameters.
- Mounting Threads: Options include None, ½ NPT, ¾ NPT, ¼ NPT (Standard), and M8x1, M10x1 (Metric).
- Lengths: Standard lengths are available in inches; metric lengths are specified in millimeters. Custom longer probe lengths can be added to the model number.
- Housing Material: Stainless Steel transition with M12 connector.
Optional extension cables are sold separately: M12CM-EXTP-K-SF-3 for Standard Sizes and M12CM-EXTP-KI-SF-3 for Metric Sizes. The series carries RoHS approval.
Key Product Differences
The product line distinguishes between two primary size families: Standard Sizes (inch-based) and Metric Sizes (millimeter-based). Model numbers reflect the thermocouple type, sheath material, diameter, junction configuration, length, and mounting thread. For example, Type J probes with 304 Stainless Steel sheaths use model prefixes such as M12JSS, while Type K probes with Inconel 600 sheaths utilize M12KIN prefixes.
Standard Size models include variants like M12JSS-1/4-U-6-A (Type J, 304 SST, None thread) and M12KIN-(*)-U-6-B (Type K, Inconel 600, ½ NPT). Metric Size examples include M12JSS-M6-U-200-E (Type J, 3 mm diameter implied by context of metric series, M8x1 thread) and M12KIN-(*)-U-200-F (Type K, Inconel 600, M10x1). The placeholder (*) in model guides indicates the insertion point for probe diameter specifications.

What is the pinout for the M12KIN-1/8-U-2-B model and how do the pin outputs read a temperature?
Hi Eleanor,
Thank you for the inquiry. The M12 pins are set up so that pin 3 is (-) and pin 2 is (+). The pins provide connection point for the electrical signal. Following link may help you with detail;
