Supported Applications
The Omega TEX Series consists of thermocouple probes designed for high-temperature and high-pressure environments in PFA extruders. These instruments are engineered specifically for plastic extrusion processes where precise temperature monitoring is required within the barrel assembly.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The series supports a maximum service temperature of 510°C (950°F) for the probes themselves, while the connector temperature limit is rated at 220°C (425°F). The wetted materials feature Hastelloy C-276 tips to withstand process conditions. Process connection utilizes ½"-20 NF barrel threads.
Configuration Options
The TEX Series is configurable across sensor element count, calibration type, tip length, and connector style. The following options are available within the series envelope:
- Sensor Elements: Single or dual elements.
- Calibrations: Type J, K, T, or E thermocouples.
- Tip Lengths (A Dimension): Flush, ¼", ½", ¾", or 1".
- Barrel Lengths (B Dimension): 3" or 6".
- Connectors: Rigid or flexible connectors with OSTW connector interface as per ordering examples.
- Custom Configurations: Custom barrel configurations are available upon request.
The model number structure follows the format: TEX----. For example, a Type J single element extruder probe with a 150 mm (6") flexible extension and OSTW connector is ordered as TEX-SEFE-J-1/4-6.
Key Product Differences
Variants within the series are distinguished by their model codes, which indicate element configuration, calibration type, tip length, and barrel dimension. The "S" prefix denotes single-element probes (e.g., TEX-SERP), while "TE" indicates dual-element configurations (e.g., TEX-TERP). Flexible extension options are indicated in specific part numbers such as those containing the "FE" designation.
