Supported Applications
The Omega DMD-460 Series comprises self-contained, AC or DC-powered signal conditioning modules designed for strain gages, load cells, and bridge-type sensors. The series supports precision differential instrumentation amplification with voltage output (DMD-465, DMD-465WB) and current output configurations (DMD-466). All models accommodate 120 Ω, 350 Ω, 500 Ω, and greater bridge circuits via 6-wire bridge connections.
Operating Conditions & Performance
The series operates within an ambient temperature range of 0 to 70°C (32 to 158°F) with a storage temperature capability from -25 to 85°C (-13 to 185°F). Excitation voltage is adjustable between 4 to 15 Vdc, providing up to 120 mA max current output. Line and load regulation for the bridge supply (0 to 100 mA) is specified at 0.05% max with an output noise of 0.5 mVrms.
Dynamic response varies by model: the DMD-465 offers a bandwidth from DC to -3 dB = 3 Hz, while the high-frequency variant DMD-465WB extends this range to DC to -3 dB = 2 kHz. The typical response time is 200 ms to reach 99% of final value and 300 ms to reach 99.9%. Input impedance for voltage output models is 3000 MΩ, with an input bias current of 30 nA.
Configuration Options
The DMD-465 Series offers configurable power supplies and signal outputs to match specific installation requirements. Models are available in standard dimensions of 96 L x 51 W x 73 mm H (3.75 x 2 x 2.87") with a weight of 510 g (18 oz).
Power Supply Options
- Standard: 115 Vac or optional 220 Vac ±10% 50/60 Hz.
- DC Option: 10 to 36 Vdc (draws 0.7 A @ 10V, 0.17 A @ 36V at maximum excitation load).
Output Signal Types
- Voltage Output: DMD-465 and DMD-465WB provide ±10 Vdc max output (2 kΩ Load) with an impedance of 0.01 to 1 Ω.
- Current Output: The DMD-466 provides a 4 to 20 mA or 0 to 20 mA transmitter signal with a compliance voltage of 10 Vdc and linearity of ±0.05% FS.
Adjustability & Features
- Gain Range: 40 to 250 (up to 1000 with external resistor on DMD-465 only).
- Offset Adjustment: -5 to 2V available on the DMD-465WB.
- Zero Adjust for Current Output: 0 to ±12 mA on the DMD-466.
Key Product Differences
The series distinguishes models by output type and bandwidth capability. The DMD-465 is a standard voltage output model with a dynamic response of DC to 3 Hz; it supports gain up to 1000 when an external resistor is used. The DMD-465WB provides high-frequency voltage output with a bandwidth extended to 2 kHz and includes specific offset adjustment capabilities (-5 to 2V). The DMD-466 functions as a current transmitter, delivering 4 to 20 mA or 0 to 20 mA outputs with an input range of 10 mV min to 50 mV max for the 20 mA output. Power variants are indicated by suffixes: "-220V" denotes 220 Vac power, and "-DC" indicates DC-powered operation.
